Speakers and panels will provide overviews of the industry, and breakout sessions will focus on the specific challenges and opportunities involved in the responsible development of wind projects in this area.

Symposium attendees will have the opportunity to network with other attendees and industry leaders during a welcome reception held on Sunday, November 16, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., at The Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel.

Just checking in. Got my electricity bill for last month and the result is 9.4kWh/day. Far better than I was hoping for. It will probably go up a little but I'm hoping it stays under 11kWh/day. This is much better than the 25kWh/day I started with.

Mike:

If you have the time, or if any of you in the group have the time, actively recruit all persons here at PickensPlan from PA to join the group. If you can compile a list of those persons in PA that are here would be a good thing. I am intent upon drafting a letter to Senators Arlen Specter and Bob Casey, Jr. It would be very good to include a list of the people in PA that are in support of the plan in that letter. This would be more effective than individual letters as it is one letter, with one voice of x number of individuals combined in unity instead of the individual letter from x number of individuals that comes in one at a time in a staggered period of time.

The impact is significantly greater in one letter with a common voice of the total number of supports listed. I would also suggest identifying the professionals in higher level executive positions and having them sign on to the plan. Since it is apparent that members of congress give greater weight to them than teh common person represented.

Tuesday night after the next Presidential debate, we are going to host the largest e-Rally ever for energy independence!

On October 7 at 10 pm EDT, just before the Presidential debate ends, log on to PickensPlan.com to rally and show the politicians that we mean business!

We have their attention - but what you do right now matters more than ever. Click here to RSVP now to attend the Pickens Plan e-Rally on Tuesday night. You can also click here to leave a comment asking the two candidates to support the Pickens Plan.

During the debate the candidates will have their say. Now it's time for you to have your say. We will deliver your comments and the comments of everyone who attends the e-Rally to both Presidential candidates within 48 hours of the end of the Presidential debate.

Also, we need you to do one more thing - find one friend and ask them to attend the e-Rally with you. How big can we grow this e-Rally? How many Americans will join our New Energy Army and join this e-Rally for energy independence? Only you can answer that question!

We have tremendous momentum, over 13,000 strong joined our post debate chat for energy independence after the last Presidential debate. You won't want to miss this event! RSVP right now and forward this email on to a friend today!

Below is a rebuttal I wrote to John Stossel's opinion piece "The Idiocy of Energy Independence." I believe Stossel is so off base on this one, those who believe energy independence is worth discussing and working toward suggest to Stossel who the idiot is.

Hi John,
I usually agree with your opinions, but in this case you are way off base.
Your economic arguments are valid only for cheap energy.
When oil rises in cost as it will continue to do long term, then alternative forms of energy become economically viable.
In your argument you talk about Carter and the calls for energy independence by he and other presidents. However, you don't discuss the Arab Oil Embargo which caused double digit inflation, high unemployment and long lines at gas pumps.
The Arab Oil embargo occurred when this nation was only importing about 30% of its oil needs, and the embargo only affected a drop of imports of about 5% of the total oil we consumed.
Now, the United States imports approximately 70% of its oil and over 40% of that comes from unstable or unfriendly places such as the Middle East, Nigeria and Venezuela.

Imagine, what the results will be if suddenly oil was reduced by 5 percent because of a terrorist, man made, or a natural catastrophe in one of those areas.

I don't need to imagine. I remember the 1970's vividly and using that as a model I shudder to think what can happen if we don't work towards energy independence.

Greetings Friends,
We all need to thank Mr. Pickens for explaining the energy problem that we as a nation face. Earlier it was one Group (users) pointing fingers at the other Group (suppliers) and vice versa. The problem is real. It was magnified to some extent, in recent times, by speculators. But, the truth is we are importing more oil every year and producing less. We are sending billions of dollars overseas.

I like what Mr. Pickens is preaching but I do not think he has disclosed his Plan. I have read and reread everyhing that is on this web and I have failed to find the Plan.

Let us imagine that you Plan to go to visit your grandmother in a far away city and start to make a Plan. You will decide when to leave from home. How you will travel from home to grandmother's, how you will pay for the travel, what clothes you will take, and also what you will do with your grandmother. Mr. Picken's has told us that he would like to visit his granny because it is good for him to do so that but he has provided no details on how he Plans to accomplish the mission.

His Plan needs to be supplemented by other plans. Mr. Picken's Plan (presently undefined) will not get us to Energy Independence. I request you study the People's petition for Energy Independence .

http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/windenergycorporation

It clearly defines where the money will come from, who will collect it, who will spend it and how, what can be expected at the conclusion of 5 and 10 years and also what will happen when we have become Energy Independent. This Plan is not dependent on the whims of the Stock Market or the condition of the Credit markets. The Plan makes investment every year till the goal is avhieved.
Please (a) sign the Petition and (b) forward it to your friends. United we can achieve Energy Independence and avoid this constant financial bleeding of our great nation.
Also, if you want to become an partner in this endeavour let me know how I can contact you. It will be a Labor of Love for a Country that we love. Just think what it would be to be Energy Independent. What it will do to our standard of living. The opportunities it will offer us, our children and grand children.
Thanks.

Regards and Best wishes,

Alankar Gupta
