I would also like to convince employers and local governments to look at reduce the need for commuting (60% of fuel usage in US go to transportation). 4 day weeks, allowing all information workers to telecommute, creating workhouses (places full of cubicles) where employees could go, sign in computer access the job network without traveling more than a few miles. We also need to increase usage of solar energy.

I am from Miami Beach, and am preparing to convince the City to allow my condominuim to use a natural gas fueled Fuel Cell to meet our emergency power needs (i.e.hurricane). Not only would we forgo one noisy, smelly, heavy generator, co-generation from the compact fuel cell would help supply us 24/7 with hot water and electricity.

There are many buildings with this need now (emergency backup power being mandated), with could really benefit, and transition to something clean and efficient.

Would be great to add wind generation to the mix. Doubtful if City would approve that. Might be interesting if T Boone built a wind farm over in the Bahamas to feed our grid. Would love to be a part of that!

I am currently interning for the City of Sunny Isles Beach. I am going to be doing research and presenting options for the city to step up the implementation and image of our "going green campaign". Any suggestions on the ways we could contribute to the pickensplan?
