Hi,

I live in Santee and a retired General Contractor. I always put solar on the houses I built. Got rebates and the savings on hot water heating was about 50%. Just outstanding! One of the major problems we are facing in Socal is water. San Diego should copy Las Vegas's water useage plan. They are about even on useage with dry scaping and recyling. It's stupid to have a large front and back lawn. I rocked my landscape years ago.

I have done a bit of reaseach on survival. I liked this point best of all "you can live 3-4 minutes without air, 3-5 days without water and 3-4 weeks without food (plus or minus)"

Best solar cooker I found is. Find or buy a car inner tube, lay it on a piece of plywood. Place food in center and cover with a pane of CLEAR glass. Temperatures get up to around 300 degrees in summer. If you have ever gone tubing and set on an inner tube that had been in the sun for awhile, you know what I mean.

cheers,

Tom

Hi There,
Pickens has got some good ideas. I've run a group in SD off Meetup.com for nearly 2 years with over 250 people signed up. Check out that for a lot of past discussion and activities, seeking ideas for new meetings. Hardest thing is fining a good, quiet venue, that serves food/drink and that will take us without deposit $.

Hey Folks,

Thanks for taking the lead and creating a group. This is exactly what we are going to need to sustain this campaign and realize its goals.

My name's Brett and I'm the Director of Online Organizing for PickensPlan. I want to be as helpful as possible in making this group work for you, and coordinating with the rest of the campaign.

Here's a link to a discussion on tips for a successful group:

That's a great place to start. Also, feel free to send me a message at Brett@PickensPlan.com at any time. Let me know what I can do to help you out in the coming days and weeks. I look forward to working with you.

Brett.
