Excellent work Robin. I have forwarded the video to my network here on Kaua'i where our county has just approved the first home wind generator for a private residence.

Please share this news with your colleagues – hope to see you there!

T. Boone Pickens is bringing the Pickens Plan for Energy Independence to Chicago in a town hall meeting set for next Tuesday, October 14, from 10:30 a.m. – noon at Navy Pier (Grand Ballroom).

US Rep. Rahm Emanuel will address the town meeting to highlight Chicago 's strengths in leading the nation to energy independence. We also expect Mayor Richard M. Daley to attend and make brief remarks.

The Town Hall meeting will feature Mr. Pickens' presentation of his "Pickens Plan," which has attracted wide attention since he announced it earlier this year. He will then host a Q&A session with the audience.

In their remarks, Rep. Emanuel and Mayor Daley will showcase Chicago as ready, willing and able to lead the nation in creating new business and new job opportunities in alternative and renewable energy. To that end, the Chicago Manufacturing Center is organizing an industrial showcase featuring five companies that are developing new products in renewable/alternative energy, are suppliers to the renewable energy industry, and/or are implementing new technologies and processes that dramatically reduce energy consumption, cost, and emissions at their facilities.

In announcing his participation in the Town Hall, Rep. Emanuel stated, "Our energy crisis directly affects our national security, our economic security, and our environmental security. I think we need to look at our current energy situation the same way previous generations looked at the great challenges of their day. For centuries, Americans have been at the forefront in developing the technologies that move people. We connected our railroads from east to west, we put a man on the moon, and we built a state-of-the-art interstate highway system connecting New York to California and Chicago to St. Louis . Our commitment to progress and overcoming obstacles made us global leaders in technology. Now we are faced with an obstacle that has been looming since the oil shocks of the 1970's: our nation's addiction to foreign oil. We have an obligation - to our citizens and to our world - to rise to the challenges of the next frontier in energy."

The Chicago Manufacturing Center views the "New Energy Economy" as a tremendous growth opportunity for small and mid-sized manufacturers in our region. Sustainable manufacturing and renewable energy production are key elements of the Chicago Climate Action Plan announced recently by Mayor Daley.

We invite you to participate in the October 14 Town Meeting to learn more about these opportunities and to take part in the discussion. This event is free and open to the public, but reservations are requested. You can confirm you attendance by e-mail to townhall@respublicagroup.com

HI everyone I was hearing today that the house of representative's did'nt pass the bail out. Well I think that is just fine because I don't know anyone thats rich I am sure however there is a few people living on penisons, but we are all to blame for not being involved in voting in past election and or not finding out the fact's for one's self.
I have voted since I turned 18, I've always considered it a great privilege to vote! as much as we all have decided that conserving energy is a need that has to happen! We also need to get out and vote even when we can't have who we want this time, We can vote in a president that will listen to the people then when we can vote in a new congress that can change things. We have all seen that one man cannot make a diffrence or this bill would have passed with no problems because congress is already a majority of dems. If they wanted it they would have passed it! Well they can take it on the chin, I am already broke they can't take anymore away, So just write them let the speaker of the house know your situation be it good or bad let all of the congress and the rep's know.
I know ! Why don't they give all the donation's they took for the last few years back (they would love to but it's been ear marked for more social programs that don't have any value except for life long recipient's of them.
We need to believe in America and make it greater.
Thanks for reading I hope it make's you write all the people in Washington and this great State.

O.K. I'm interested. Where can I find info. on systems for homes? I like on a lake and wind is pretty constant, but at times very strong. I understand many wind systems can't handle strong winds.

It goes through the house before the Senate.... so if the Senate voted for it....it goes to the El Presidente!

There is a very good link in the group called Inexpensive clean energy called small wind tool box. Its for people interested in installing a wind turbine or people trying to push legislation for small wind. Every one in our group should check it out. It is very usefull stuff.

Hey All,
At Eden Wind, we have many different alternative energy resources, both off-the-shelf and custom for you to buy and have installed, or to build yourself.
To start with any recommendation, we need to know everything about your site and the surrounding area in a 1500 foot radius. Take a topographical map of that area then draw out the power lines and pipelines, and your entrance, every obstacle on your property with heights, and every obstacle 50' high or more in a radius of 150', with their heights, plus every airport and obstacle of 70' or more above your ground level in that area.
Also, write down what you want to achieve with your power system.
Send this to me, and I can give you a free recommendation and estimate.
If you are doing or planning any building improvements on your property contact me immediately with details so we can help you avoid making any mistakes that might cost you money and lost efficiency.
We have a space-age insulation, siding, framing and roofing to build the most energy efficient buildings, or retrofits, and the most advanced wind/solar/IC hybrid electric generation available.
Sincerely,

Not a fact only rumor but I hear Board of Water and Light in lansing is looking at large wind turbines combined with solar and tie that in with the new plant on canal., but we shall see maybe this is just more talk no walk.
