Check out this link and see what the "Green Chip Review" has to say about The Pickens Plan and global wind energy.

I guess I'll just have to be a supporter and observer in this group. As the owner of a NYC apartment, there's not much I can do as far as installing a wind turbine on my terrace! As for the common roof, my building is looking into a green roof to trap water and heat. This is probably more effective for us than wind or solar.

Richard,
that is an excellent idea. Here are some pages I have found already in my attempt to get get a grip on this topic.

I have also downloaded this document for some site, though I have to admit I do not remember where I got it. Might have been from the first site.

After reading the many comments I would like to suggest something. Consider a Co-Operative approach to national growth by using this venue to share not only information but also work product. An across the board "How To" template for Small Wind in any region of the country. Providing serious support to getting Small Wind off the back burner requires everything from engineering services to running interference with getting Grant money for projects. What if we develop, document and make available at cost all of the information, examples, how-tos for Small Wind that the individual or family owned small business could use to make a profitable go in their area. With a unified approach we could have a vetted template for Small Wind success which could be used by others across the nation to make an impact locally. This is all about small in so many ways.

I love the new ad. If you haven't seen it yet do. Mr. Pickens is focused on Natural Gas being a bridge technology. He has heard the cry that I have seen on many sites. NG is a good step there but the electric economy is the future. Tell a friend to watch it if they have reservations about the plan as it stands. We can do this.

I too would like to see a discussion of a home user of wind. I am trying to work with my local city to get zoning for small wind. I have documents from several producers and associations connected to small wind but would love to start gathering first hand accounts of people who have small wind.
Such first hand accounts would be a great help in trying to convince the council to change the zoning.

I would like to see a discussion from a homeowner who has installed and is using a wind power system on their home; the process they went through in deciding which system, size, performance, etc.

I too am interested in establishing a business that will provide solar/wind power on a residential basis. I need to find suppliers that can help get me started, with product that i can retail and install for customers. But I don't have my own product. I need a provider that is established, has 100% success record and a guarantee. Any idea's or direction will certainly be appreciated.

thanks in advance.

I am an accountant graduating in December. I am quite familiar with business however don't have too much money saved up. If someone will help finance me as an angel investor, I will open up an alternative energy store in my city and sell wind and solar to the 10's of thousands of farmers in the 100 miles around me. There is no source for alternative energy around me. I am putting together a business plan now and any help anyone could give me would be appreciated and will eventually help the country once I implement this. It could be very profitable and also help the USA and planet. Please help.
