Great Plains Energy Summit -- Omaha -- June 17-18, 2009 -- Leaders from the states & provinces of the USA-Canada Wind Corridor are gathering in Omaha, Nebraska on June 17-18 to plan for action in 2010 & beyond. Through the Great Plains Energy Alliance, we are gathering community & regional leaders, state officials, component manufacturers, colleges & universities, wind energy leaders, ranchers, farmers & more. We will discuss transmission infrastructure, community benefits, workforce preparation, state & federal policies, environmental perspectives, The Pickens Plan, and more. Hello group, I have some exciting news. I have been talking and emailing a legilative assistant for representative Hunter of the Texas state legislature regarding Energy Independence Savings Bonds initiative at the state level. I spoke to him on the telephone and he encourages anyone from Texas, no matter what district in TX, to email him about Energy Independence Savings Bonds for Texas. He stated he will happily forward all correspondence received to the correct representatives in Texas. Representative Hunter is an attorney and Caleb said there are two other attorneys working for Rep. Hunter. It is interesting to hear there is question about the legality of a state level savings bond program similar to the federal level. They are actively working on it and this is great news! Please feel free to pass on this information to anyone from Texas. Here is Caleb's email:

Pickens U is a new Pickens site specifically designed for students and alumni from colleges and universities across the United States who support energy independence for America.

Outreach on college campuses will be a critical component of our effort to build an Army of 1,000,000 supporters. We plan to mobilize students and alumni of colleges across America to support the Pickens Plan and prepare to take action during the first 100 days of the new Administration.

There are hundreds of college campuses across America, and we are interested in having Pickens Plan chapters on as many of them as possible – from small community colleges to liberal arts schools to prominent institutions to the largest state universities. The key is to find a motivated campus coordinator and an enthusiastic student population – with the right people in place, even the smallest of schools can make a big difference.

I am a citizen of The Muscogee Creek Nation of Oklahoma and would like more info on tribal related efforts towards renewable energy resources and projects.
It seems Oklahoma is possibly the CNG center for a energy resource as so the Windustry would also be.The Solar power systems I've seen in Ok. either are nonworking or in adequate.
Any info would be great.
We as Oklahomans know the oil and pipeline industry as well as anyone or any place in the world.
I am a surveyor in the pipeline industry and at current there are many large pipelines in many different stages of construction in Oklahoma and these lines seem to be growing in size for future production and capacity.
The Wind energy industry does not seem to be keeping it potential pace with this energy platform. Western Oklahoma is ,a we all know, a wind mine in the waiting . Lets get on board!

Good Luck John Frame!
I am glad the Norman group is finally meeting again and finding ways to improve our state. Solar energy and wind are my favorites, but Geo-thermal and Geo-electrical plants are starting to overtake the normal efforts of schools and large organizations to cool and heat their buildings.
It seems that there are many ways to get the state to find new alternatives, but really establishing these technologies will take education and especially, it will take training in the fields of installation, design and development, both physical and financial to change how Oklahoma deals with alternative energy. Currently there is no exclusively research oriented University in Oklahoma, and although OSU is beginning course design efforts to offer Wind-related courses, it will be years until real course curricula are developed unless Oklahoma students start asking for them.
We are a demand based system and unless there is enough perceived demand, there will be no changes in developing businesses that grow the economy. Both the economy and the use of alternative fuels are important, but as yet no real efforts have been made to frame this out in our laws and policies.
You hold the key to helping us grow, so I urge you to start building the frame-work now...(Thought you would like that Mr. Frame...)

I had to join this group when I saw it. It is not very often you see a group of sooners supporting T. Boone Pickens!
I was raised from birth one way.
Sooner Born and Sooner Bred and when I die I'll be Sooner Dead!!!!!!
But I have to say, I support Boone. He is doing the right thing and pushing our country in the right direction. It doesn't take a genious to figure out that if an oil man is pushing for alternative energy, he must feel strongly that he is doing the right thing!!!!!
