About This Group

The Pickens Plan has been on Twitter since launching in early July and we’ve recruited over 2,800 followers in that time. It is a great start, but we can do better. This group is about ways we can use Twitter to spread the word about the Pickens Plan.

Here are the steps we can take to help grow the number:

(1) Follow the Pickens Plan on Twitter – http://www.twitter.com/pickensplan

(2) Send out a tweet from your own account encouraging your network to follow @pickensplan.

(3) Join this group and leave a comment on this group’s wall letting me know your Twitter name. I’ll post a list of Push members on Twitter so that we can all connect with each other.

Please let me know if you have any other ideas or suggestions.

And or those of you not familiar with Twitter, it’s a micro-blogging platform that allows you to send out messages of 140 characters or less. Think of it as a sticky note message you can leave for everyone to read. You can also post links to pictures, article, and blogs. Check it out.

Join me @ Rally for Clean Energy at the G20! (free concert)

This our chance to show the world that the answer to global economic recovery is building an economy based on clean energy. It's how we put Americans back to work, create millions of clean energy jobs, and decrease the carbon pollution that causes global warming.

Leaders from the United States and around the world need to know that we won't settle for anything less.

Interested in a bus? You can let us know when you RSVP.

Here are the details:

WHO: You, your friends, and family!
Grammy award winning artist Kathy Mattea, Big Head Todd and the
Monsters, Joan Jett, and The Clarks.

WHAT: Rally with musical entertainment focusing on clean energy jobs and comprehensive climate legislation.

WHEN: Wednesday, September 23rd, 6-9pm

WHERE: Point State Park, 101 Commonwealth Pl # 1, Pittsburgh, PA 15222-1249

Click this link to RSVP: http://action.sierraclub.org/site/Calendar/2132559426

If Sierra club tickets run out you can still attend as venue holds 17,000 people. I would LOVE to get a huge Pickens Army turnout to this event. Look at it as a little reward for all of the hard work you did for the Plan and for America's future...

I support the Pickens Plan. Only wish we could get jobs moving faster. I would love to work again. Here is my proposal to help put people back to work, create additional disposable income and go green at the same time.

Great idea about Twitter!

Last night I started asking twitter members directly to support the pickens plan by sending them a note including the #pickensplan hashtag and a shortened link to the virtual march page on the plan website. Soon people started to copy my idea and do the same. Last night Rock The Vote re-tweeted and supported the plan. Supermodel Kathy Ireland asked me for more info on the plan. Today the authors of the upcoming book "Twitter For Dummies" complimented me/us on the twitter effort; "@dummies Who's participating in #pickensplan virtual march? Great cause+awesome use of Twitter

If we all get busy and do this today and tomorrow we might even get news coverage of the event and thereby even more exposure for the plan!!! Let's get busy on the twitter campaign.

Suggested cold contact twitter post:
Please join me and over 4 million others for the #pickensplan virtual march on Washington http://bit.ly/8uDxH

Thank, I have used Twitter often to RT or "Retweet" this is a cross promototion. . Even though I am not able to be in Washington DC or be close to a Fax, I can take what I see Tweeted from the Twitter accounts that are presenting information on the Virtual March @PickensPlan & Mike Jognston @Enki09 and RESEND it to my followers by copy, pasting & adding RT in front of it.

This introduces The Pickens Plan to entire new group of people.

I was happy to see some of my follower RT it further to entirely new audiences.

I am motivated by seeing people take action in this country to do anything to change the direction, wake up and do something.

I have often used "RT" for Weather alerts, Positive Quotes, Animal Rights on Twitter.

It just shows that even though I am in a Big Rig on some Highway somewhere, I can be involved in some way.

I am @TruckerDesiree on Twitter.

Today I will be driving thru Virginia and up to New Hampshire, I will be close by the events but closer because of Twitter.

I don't represent a Company, I have a Student Trucker Story warning story I write on "Ask the Trucker", I have a Idea for reduction of Truck Idling called "My Green Idea" , which I have not had time to put in my blog area here yet.

I speak on Twitter often about Trucking Issues, such as lack of Parking & Saftey issues to give regular folks a better understanding that Truckers are often treated very poorly for the hard work they do to bring food & clothing to the store shelves.
So, here we go... Day 2 Tweet & Retweet & I will be using the #pickensplan hashtag.

If you need to get my attention on Twitter @replies me or DM me.

If you are also covering this event so I can RT your updates as well.

See you on Twitter.
