This Group favors the inclusion of conservation education in K-12 core curriculum; and a painless way for the Federal Government to provide State Education departments with subsidies earmarked for that purpose by ROUNDING-UP gas prices .1 of a cent.

T. BOONE ROUND-UP

Since Boone has access and implied support in the Washington beltway and the Stimulus package already includes aspects in support of America’s energy independence, conservation and the development of clean energy options…how about suggesting this…

The premise would be that as part of the new administrartions Energy Independence Plan that gas prices be ROUNDED-UP one tenth of a cent and that the proceeds are earmarked for energy conservation education in our nationwide schools from K-12.

After all, no one really thinks of $1.79.9 as anything other than a dollar eighty. It would simplify the math at the pump and the accumulation of dollars nationwide could be distributed to State Education budgets and provide a significant contribution to the objective of decreasing our energy dependence by introducing conservation techniques in our early education core curriculum. As Boone stated during his meeting with Owens-Corning, conservation is the cream in our efforts toward energy independence. It may be that school children will be reminding their parents to turn off the lights and then teach their children how to accomplish what we adults have thus far failed to learn.

Here are some interesting numbers:

*Just for example, daily gasoline consumption in the USA in 2007 was 390 Million Gallons x .001 = $390,000.00 x 365 Days = $142,350,000.00. In long hand that’s ONE HUNDRED FORTY TWO MILLION THREE HUNDRED FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS a year which would be allocated toward early education for conservation with kids between the age of 5 and 18. It sounds to me like enough money to educate a few adults along the way…

The Feds already collect approximately 18.4 cents on every gallon, so the reporting and collection infrastructure is already in place. They would just need to separate a tenth of a cent to an Energy Conservation Early Education Fund.

Consumers wouldn’t really feel it, and may be happy to dispose of this enigmatic penchant for a discount store mentality when it comes to gas pricing. The visibility and historic nature of even pricing will be a daily reminder to generations of consumers that they are contributing to our Energy Independence, National Security and a Healthier Planet with every gallon they buy. Getting rid of the .9 is a good thing all around.

I am grateful and proud to be a member of the Pickens Plan. We have assembled an army without uniforms, guns or bombs. Our weapon is our relentless determination to conserve the energy we produce, develop new clean alternatives and end our dependence on foreign imports.

In referencing our ability to solve the unprecedented problems at hand, President Obama has passionatley proclaimed YES WE CAN. With Boone’s leadership, influence, resources and the perspective of his long experience on the ground…he has clarified the reality…which is YES WE MUST!

BOONE, your army is with you. We can’t imagine a better legacy for any man.

With great appreciation,

Leslie: I don't know if you have spoken to Alan Hamilton, but they (Pizza box oven) were our neighbors at the Earth Day event yesterday. The s'mores they made were in demand, although quite messy. We had chocolate on our tablecloth.

I would like to say congratulations to Mike M. and Alan H. Great work this is a well done job. I think this is a great model for us all to work on and a goal to set for all our groups. I'm going to ask the people in charge in my area to see if we can't do something in the same way here in TN. again Great work and a Big Pat On The Back even though that isn't what they did it for. I think we all can see by this that there are a lot of things we can do to get this out there to everyone we can. we all need to keep working. I have been moving and still have a few days do go before I'm finished then I can get back to work. But I will bring this to my State's Group.

Good Monday Morning all...

When you have a moment please reach out and congratulate Mike Morton, DL, NJ-04 and Alan Hamilton, DL, NJ02 (NJDL Delegation) for their amazing Pickens Plan outreach this weekend at the Haneman Park, Earth Day Festival sponsored by ACUA.

They signed 168 pledges and connected with several candidates for a Pickens U Chapter., a great accomplishment (especially in near 100 degree temps) and worth a giant pat on the back from all DL's. They have a number of other events planned at venues with FREE booth space. It might be worth considering for your group. As you may know all DL's in New Jersey formed a Delegation which works together in unison to achieve joint objectives. It's been a great experience. It's a productive way to spread out the work and expand each districts capacity.

We are in the discussion stage of a Towne Hall event; something far more difficult to do without lots of help. Try it in your State.

Hi all...

The NJDLD (New Jersey District Leader Delegation) is discussing strategies for a Towne Hall meeting event this fall. We are reaching out to regular members and RL's who have participated in or produced these events in the past and asking for advice and information on the process. It's not evident or conclusive at this point that Boone's schedule will accomodate a personal appearance which we would prefer; but want to consider it anyway as an important community outreach for the PP objectives and clean energy in general.

If anyone can share their experience or provide some direction about how an event of this nature is assembled, advertised, funded, etc., we would appreciate it. We are considering a University setting or other public venue which might be willing to provide the space. We would like to attract several 100 to 1000 attendance and have also discussed a live PBS TV feed.

Any assistance would be helpful.

Thanks,
Jack Costantino, DL, NJ-11

Dare I say that private messages should be sent privately over the network. The link is directly under the personal picture. If on the other hand this is supposed to be a posting for the benefit of everyone on the PP, it leaves a lot to be desired. We (I) have NO IDEA what you are trying to say.
First I am not impressed with the "Sender's address referencing two CEO's, two organizations, with eccentric names that no one ever heard of, no track record, no capitalization, and no business plan.

Secondly, "The Grand Beer: USA next best Beer:" is a fragment that has no hope of becoming a complete thought. "When you look in everyone has enough to go around." is a tangled thought. It is not clear whether you are saying that each person has enough or there is enough for everyong to have an ample serving. ... and then SO WHAT? I don't even drink beer so I don't care. and WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH ENERGY?
Finally, ...friends... love it. Love what?
Private messages should stay private so as not to take up everybody's else's time reading them.

Building America’s Future Applauds “Build America Bonds”

Innovative finance option will go a long way in rebuilding America’s infrastructure and creating jobs Washington, DC –Last week, the U.S. Department of the Treasury announced the details of a new program – Build America Bonds – to help states finance capital infrastructure projects. In response, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (CA) and Governor Ed Rendell (PA), co‐chairs for Building America’s Future, issued the following response: “We applaud President Obama and Congress for promoting new and innovative ways to finance infrastructure. It’s estimated that our nation needs a total investment of $2.2 trillion to get our infrastructure in ‘good’ condition. The stimulus, which committed over $100 billion, was the first crucial step toward badly needed repairs and modernization. “With our nation facing an economic recession, it is clear that we need a variety of financing options, including bonds, a national infrastructure bank and public‐private partnerships, to provide the level of safety and quality of life our communities deserve. The Build America Bonds will allow states and cities to further invest in their infrastructure, creating jobs and long‐term economic growth. “We also applaud the Treasury Department and Secretary Geithner for the speed in which they are making these bonds available. It will greatly help cities and states get the bond markets moving.”
