I am not a teacher, but I am a student interested in starting a Conservation board in my state. I want the program to not only be in my state, but to hopefully become national. I have attached documents to this post that describe the board, and I am hoping to get some input from actual teachers. I know at first this may sound slightly off-topic, but many of the projects that the founding members hope to accomplish involve helping industry to become cleaner, and more efficient (which in my opinion ties in well with Pickens' plan).
The Conservation Board is designed with the goal to not only be implemented within an after school program (that too would be wonderful), but to be used within class curriculum (if that makes sense). I think that it could provide students with a valuable outlet for their ideas, and it would enhance their english, science, and reasoning skills.
I want to be able to get a hard-cut plan in place that I can present to the Utah Board of Education so I can get this thing going in schools by next school year. I would also like to be able to get some material ready so that students in other states can present the idea of a state-wide Youth Conservation Board in their area.
I would greatly appreciate any input that you all might have, and if you are planning lessons and would like to throw them past a student before implementing them I will try and help you.
