This discussion group has a purpose, I cetainly hope not to offend anyone with the postings nor the questions.

I will not go into the details behind the event that sparked this discussion.

Today I had to read the Declaration of Independence of the
United States of America.

My posting on the group page is the opening statement of this inspiring and sacred document.

The question I have to ASK is this, when was the last time you actually read these documents?

The Declaratin of Independence
The Constitution of the United States
The Bill of Rghts

I have reason to read these documents and will raise questions about the meaning (to each of us) of given "passages" from each.

I certainly invite each of you to voice your "interpretation" of the passages.

This quote is in the opening statement in the Declaration of Independence

My question (may it not offend) is this;

Why is there such an uproar from Athiests and various Religious Groups (non Christian) about "Seperation of Church and State"? - - - I see no reference to the Christian God.

My interprettion of the quote is as simple as IT's intent, simply by "the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God"
not by any religious God but of Nature's God.

And FOR THE RECORD, I NEVER preface my questions with a caveate NOT to offend. Let the chips fall where they will.

In the United States the term God has HISTORICALLY been associated with the ideas of the Christian Religion. Most discussions of the "founding" of this country revolve around the Judeau/Christian ideals of religion.

Your weasel word of not refereing to specifically to the "Christian God" is a non-sequiter. As I said earlier, any reference to a god in the United States is a defacto Christian one. Atheists are like 2nd Admendment rights activists. Any attempt to control guns is seem as an attack on the basic right to have a gun. So, ANY mention of a god in the political conversation is intrepreted as an attempt to weasel the concept into the national conversation. As soon as you let a Christian startto talk about thier god, the next thing you know there is a pair of young people on your doorstep wanting to sell you a copy of the Watchtower magazine. It is a part of their teaching, it is a part of their duty to recruit you into THEIR fold.

SO, if you believe that the 1st Admendment is truely represented by the concept of "separation of Church and State" why do you show your ignorance of that fact with the self serving statement "I see no reference to the Christian God." I as have read your Bible and intrepreted it, you are restrained by another "bill of rights", or "bill of wrongs" as I like to refer to them, the first being that "you will have no other gods before me". Now, you are attempting to weasel out of this commandment by parsing the words "Christian God". God ain't gonna take kindly to this when you get to the gates for judgement.

This quote is from the closig statement of the Declaration of Independence.

My question (forgive my asking) is this;

Who is this Supreme Judge of the world in 1776? - - - Was there actually a body such as the "World Court" of today, that history has failed to record? -or- Is this a reference to Nature's God?

My interpretation of the quote is again as simple IT is stated, YES there is a powerful "COURT" that has dictated to the world for longer than we know.

I am not a conspiricy throrist, but there is someone-something that controls OUR GOVERNMENT and it is not the PEOPLE of the UNITED STATES of AMERICA

Of the existence of an oligarchy that controls our government I have no doubt. The question is what are we going to do about it? The framework of our government does give us the means to change it but we will have to motivate and educate people who have little interest in anything other than making enough money to cover the basics, buying their beer and watching the next, and the next and the next ball game.
This fight for energy independence has amazingly gotten a lot of people's attention and if we succeed maybe people can begin to wake from their stupor, shake off their sence of helplessness and realize that many problems that seem intractible can be solved if we just get involved. Thank you for being involved.

Why are you taking offense to the comments and questions?

To set the record straight, I do not attest to ANY ORGANIZED RELIGION, who am I t tell another that his beleif is wrong.

As far as being LOST and a conspiracy theorist, YOU sound like one of the SHEEP that has caused this great nation to fall into Socialism which leads to Communism.

I am late reading this thread and not up to speed so to speak but I clearly see DoubleDeuse that you are an argumentative, trouble maker. Perhaps if you used the energy you put forth with your vocabulary into POSITIVE input you could be of some value. My grandfather told me decades ago, never argue religion or politics with friends. This country was founded by people who wanted freedom to worship (or not) as they please.Amen.

The topic is the US Constitution, Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights.

The Discusion title is ASK IT Like IT IS, as a su discussion to TELL IT like IT IS.

The topic on the Constitution and such was just a question pertaining to the language of the Declaration,
as well as to the LAST TIME YOU READ THEM.
