Information

Texans for Energy Independence

A group for Texas residents supporting clean, affordable power and energy independence.

Location: Texas
Members: 997
Latest Activity: Oct 10

Welcome to the Texans for Energy Independence group page. I started this group to connect Texans who share my concern for our energy security. Hopefully by combining our voices we can influence the presidential candidates in this election as well as local politicians here in Texas.

If you have ideas to share for organizing to support the Pickens plan or ways to improve the Texas group please post a comment to the group comment wall or start a forum thread. Please feel free to invite other Texans to join the group.

I have started a list of Useful links for the group. If you have one to add let me know.

We have heard the broad strokes of this plan. I'm all for it. What are the logistics, the details? Mr. Pickens has the wind farm and is most likely implementing. Are the Auto makers on board for developing NG powered auto? What about retrofits or grandfathering gas engines?
Have electric companies been contacted about offering solar power incentives to home owners. Currently, if a homeowner wants solar power cells on their home, they are looking at investing $50,000. I'd love to do it, but can't afford it.
What can "everyman" do, with out paying out the nose for this?
Otherwise, great idea. The people are hungry!

I think the two biggest things people can do to help right off the bat are:

1. Call or write your elected representitive (and other candidates that are running for that seat) and ask if they plan on supporting the Pickens plan:
https://forms.house.gov/wyr/welcome.shtml

2. Call your electric company and ask what programs they have for renewable electricity. If they don't have one and you live in an area where you can switch electric companies, then switch to one that does. I've done this, and it costs only about $10 more per month

I'm here to help. I know we still have many capped wells in West Texas restricted because of old oil pricing restrictions. It is a beautiful sight passing by all those windmills near Fort Stockton and under many pumpjacks are still doing their thing. Having land that many considered "wasteland" be so productive is nice to now see be so valuable.

Movement is what we need. "We the people" need to force Congress and the Government to MOVE. They are stuck in a quagmire of greed and mediocrity. CONGRESS will not change unless WE force it to. We have the power. NOT them. We need to use it or we will face a future of our own making through apathy and indifference.

Hey there folks I am a native Texan living in Louisiana. I also am an Environmental Consultant. I just wanted you guys to know that if the price of gasoline and diesel isn't enough to fire you up you ought to do some research on the effects of drilling, processing, and damn near every aspect of those things on the environment. The solar, wind and if need be natural gas options are what we need to turn this country around economically as well as in an environmental standpoint. Between hardworking people not being able to find work and people not being about to drink water out of a natural spring, something DRASTIC needs to be done! I support this movement and will do what I can to spread it.

Can we be independent and not pay $4.00 per gallon for gas?
I remember my wife losing her job and retirement back in the bust in the 80's ($29.00 per barrel) working for IMCO.
Dumped our gas guzzlers, 10 & 15 mpg for a powerstroke & VW diesel, 38 & 17 mpg. Diesel goes up to $4.50 gal. Everybody blames Bush, But we need congress to make 2 maybe 3 moves to put speculators in check. tired of watching the American dream head down the drain. I don't understand why either Ford Motor Co. or Exxon Oil. has to be losing their ass. Oil & auto should be sitting at the same table and working together. In the end we need heros take some politicians and make them statesmen!

As we can all see our senate and congress are failing us. They are locked in by greed and big money. It's time for the people of this great nation to stan up. It's time for us to take responsibility. What can we do? Put us to work, join us together, let's get fired up.

I am proud to be a member of Texans for Energy Independance.
I need to know what I can do?
Being I am medically disabled it's difficult for me to travel. My body is shot to heck and my legs don't work to well, but my mind is healthy and so are my fingers.
Someone may be able to tell me what I can do for this great State of Texas.
