Welcome Red Raiders!

Will you take a stand with me? A stand for change in American energy policies. With your help we can ween our self off Middle Eastern oil. Together we can make these dreams a reality! All that it takes is for each of us to do a small part, tell a friend, write your elected representatives, organize a group encouraging each member to go out and do the same. It doesn't take much on your part to start the change, with each of us committed to a new energy standard our numbers will not be ignored.

Thanks,

Halston Smith

Wade Wilson Comment by Wade Wilson on October 28, 2008 at 1:08pm
My name is Wade Wilson and I am President of Legacy Energy Group, LLC. Our primary focus at this time is Community Wind and Biomass Power projects. These type projects support local economies with good-paying jobs; landowner fees; and, taxes paid to schools, towns, counties and others.

A community organization such as Cities, Counties, Schools, Economic Development Organizations, Non-Profits or most groups serving the community as a whole may participate in up to 20% ownership of a wind farm with no capital expenditures and they have the OPTION to increase participation by an additional 10% with very little capital outlay. This program helps promote energy independence as well as providing good paying green jobs within the community and provides long term income that stays in the community.

Our program includes all development capital as well as construction funding. If you would like to help promote a community wind project in your community please join our group or contact us for more information. We are currently working on several projects and are more than willing to give references to serious parties.

Thank you,

Wade

So does this group ever meet in order to educate people in the community about the plan?

As a TTU alum, I know about how much wind we have to use in West Texas! What I don't understand is why groups are opposed to the combination of wind, solar, natural gas, as well as drilling for US oil sources. I think the combination could change our nation's economy and make the air here in Dallas a little bit easier to breathe...

Did you know that in lubbock all our reps in the house and congress has voted No 100% of the time on every single bill that promotes wind, solar and other forms of renewable energy?
Did you know that they all receive tens and even hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from Big oil?
Could that be why all they talk about is more drilling?
Im not against more drilling. Infact im for it, but we're not going to drill our way out of this one and it wont help the ozone none im sure.
In our group Inexpensive Clean Energy I posted up links to legislative directory, contact congress, find out how much money your reps get from big oil, see what they voted in the past, gas taxes in your state, green jobs, etrc...
Please check it out, do the research, join the group, contact your reps and tell a friend.

Hi Halston,

I should know this - but am directionally "challenged"... an Texas is a really big state...

If you or any of your group is near "Friona or Brownfield"... Congressman Neugebauer is heading there for Town Hall Meetings....

Brownfield - Wed. Aug 20th @ 8:30am / City Hall
Friona - Tuesday. Aug. 19th @ 10:00am / headquarters restaurant.

If you are able to go - it would be good to have him hear from people who are supporting " Energy Independence an the Pickens Plan".... POssibly ask if he has spoken to Mr. Pickens or what he plans to do for our energy situation?

I know a group is going to visit w/ him at a Town Hall Meeting in Clyde...( which is near Abilene) We are hoping others will attend these as well - so he will see that we are persistant in wanting congress to " HELP US"....

If you or anyone from your group is near these meetings - we sure hope you can visit with him there!
Or you can help us spread the work to others who are near....

Thank you...
GO RAIDERS - GO BOONE!

personally i believe solar power is more efficient because wind turbines have to be turned off if the wind is too strong.

Hello fellow Red Raiders!!

Boone Pickens says the 7 trillion would be the largest transfer of wealth in history. If you want to avoid another transfer of wealth, think about avoiding Wal-Mart. Yes, I know you're poor college students and it's very big and shiny and tempting out there on 4th Street & Loop 289...but....try.

Joined here even though I'm an alum since there is no general Texas Tech group.

We need to invest heavily in Wind Power and research like that being done by Tech's Wind Power Institute.

From Today's news...

U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announces the approval of an energy and water development bill that includes $2 million secured for wind power research at Texas Tech.

The legislation now goes to the full Senate.

the funds will be used to establish tech's Great Plains Wind Power Test Facility," building on the significant measurement and analysis capabilities of the university.

It also confirms Tech will continue serving as a national resource for the testing and analysis of grid-connected wind turbines.
