ASK THE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE
“We’re paying $700 billion a year for foreign oil and it’s breaking us as a nation, and I want to elevate that question to the presidential debate, to make it the No. 1 issue of this campaign year,” says Pickens.
We can help Mr. Pickens make it not only an issue but we should DEMAND that each Presidential candidate, in clear terms, define his Plan is to make us Energy Independent.
Plan is not synonymous with promises or intentions. We have heard promises in the past and nothing has materialized. We should demand the following.
1. Estimated date by which the Plan will make us Energy Independent.
[This would tell us how seriously the candidate has analyzed the Plan and how committed is the candidate to implement it.]
2. The essential elements of the Plan
a. Drilling
b. Coal.
c. Renewable Energy
d. Nuclear
e. Conservation
f. New standards for automobiles, appliances, etc
g. Credits and subsidies
h. Other
[This will allow us to compare the Plans]
3. Resources the Candidate would commit to the Plan each year. Remember, money and effort is required to solve problems; wishful thinking achieves nothing.
4... Sources for the resources.
This information is extremely important as without sources for the resources nothing will get done.
5 Interim goals – achievements at the end of first, second, third and fourth anniversary in office.
There is a lot of low hanging fruit. A lot can be achieved in a short time as identified by Mr. Pickens. I have read the Energy plan of both Mr. Obama and Mr. McCain that is in public domain and I regretfully submit they only boast what will happen when they are no longer in office.
The best way to get the above information is by withholding donations until the information is provided. People, like you and I, wield a lot of power collectively.
Also, I request you to carefully study the People’s Petition, posted on this site, and endorse it. It will help the next President, Democrat or Republican. The Petition also supplements Pickens Plan and is good for the nation.
