Thanks Tom.
Yep anti-idling laws are in effect in many places, especially in metropolitan areas. In NYC for example the fine for idling a truck more than 2 minutes is around $800 per offense...

Tom, there are 26 states and provinces, and more coming, that have anti-idle laws prohibiting trucks over 16,000 GVWR from idling more than 5 minutes at a time in most cases. Truckers must now think about an "Idle Reduction" technology recommended by the EPA Smartway program.

Our business provides technical information on many of those technologies and we help with grants and special financing too. We also are involved in helping with exhaust particle filtering devices too. We can help lots of truckers, but need help getting the word out...marketing ect. We've tried a lot of these trucker blogs, but they do not work, so we are now focusing on gaining fleet contacts and we want everyone, even you to be a part of it and earn some money too.

I also think the trucking industry would benefit greatly from a green plan that would reduce the pollution from diesel going into the air and into the lungs of the truck driver, as not all trucks are equipped with anti pollution devices and so the truck driver in many instances breathes in the diesel fumes while he or she sleep and the truck remains on because as every truck driver knows, even if the truck is stopped for hours at a time at a resting spot, the engine is on and the burned diesel fumes are going straight up into the ozone and inside the truck and if that is not so, please correct me that in any event, any diesel fumes going into the open air is dangerous to the populations near by but green energy would put an end to all these pollution threats to humans, truck drivers and mother earth, again, why I support the Pickens Plan for green energy.

I personally think anything that gets our country out of the dependence of foreign oil is good enough to explore and that having vast natural resources here at home like natural gas, wind and solar power, should be explored, which is why I am so thankful to Mr. Boone Pickens, for taking on a very important step in the environment of our country and introducing his plan to reduce our dependence on what can become expensive oil as it has been when how much were we paying for gas in the United States not so long ago that caused lots of people to run and trade in their V-8 gas guzzlers? Solar Wind and Natural Gas are the future to the freedom of Americans from foreign oil and Boone Pickens understands the importance of that for which Texans are grateful, Yes Mr. Pickens, keep the good work for all Americans.

I enjoyed the article that Jason and Mike collaborated on for the examiner, I think Jason should reprint it here.

I came away thinking to myself that Natural Gas Trucks may actually help Owner Operators to a greater degree because the grants available.

Large companies may drag their feet because of the expense involved in replacing a fleet as opposed to O/O.

This is a question really of patriotism and whatever reprecussions that brings in becoming finally self-sufficient.

Freedom costs more but it's worth it in the long run.

hi Wayne, cool stuff ur doing. All new technologies take a while to work their way into the marketplace...

pretty much the way a diesel locomotive works :-)

The ICE can be diesel, NG, etc. EATON only provides the diesel. The following URL shows the system application with a truck.
Eaton couples a vehicle’s diesel engine with an electric motor / generator and batteries to create Eaton’s patented hybrid electric system.

Hi Mike, Great topic! We are trying to help out the trucking industry with solar energy management systems large and small and other cab comfort item with not much success yet. We are looking into other mobile industries and offering smaller more portable power systems and all looking into residential small solar battery systems. We are offering real solutions that can help right now offset the use of oil and on-grid power. We just need some money from some investors to help us just start our projects and marketing system.
Cheers! Wayne
