The secret story. Start with insulation around your home or business then add a ground source heat pump and save 50% or more on energy cost then add solar panels or wind turbine. When you add solar panels or a wind turbine then you only need half as many to achieve 100% energy independence. Solar panels can be added one at a time as you can afford it. You have from now till 2016 to get a 30% tax credit on geothermal heat pumps. Which means almost 1/3 of the cost of installation will be a tax credit. 1/3 the cost pays for installing the ground loop which should last for 50 plus years and you will save 50% or more energy cost.

It is great that the Universtiy is getting involved in the green energy, and students and lecturors are creating green entrepreneurs. Universities are a good area to create and innovate new green products, and important they connect with the business community and work together.

Before installing solar panels or a windturbine in your home or business you should install a ground source or geothermal heat pump to save 50-70% of your electric energy. By saving 50-70% of your electric energy you only have to put in half as many solar panels of half the size of the windturbine to get 100% energy savings. A tax credit of 30% is available to install a Geothermal Heat Pump System. I just had one installed in a new home I am building. I took pictures and video of the complete installation. You can find the videos on Pickens Plan.

The Pickens Plan Virtual March starts Wednesday, April 1st and continues through Friday, April 3rd. Each day an email will be coming out from the Pickens headquarters outlining what particular topic is the focus for that day. They will be providing links with pre-formatted email bodies to send out to our local Legislative Representative's office. At a minimum, please take the time to fill out and forward the email on each day; however, phone calls, letters, and Op-Eds are also highly encouraged. If you do put forth the extra effort, please let me know. I will make sure you actions are recognized.

Some of you may be questioning the timing of the Virtual March. A couple weeks ago the District Leaders participated in a group conference call hosted by Boone, and he had a couple of responses to this very question. The dates coincide with Congress's Easter recess, so the majority of House and Senate Reps will be home for the break. This provides an opportunity for local constituents to encourage Representatives to put energy at the top of their priority list when Congress reconvenes. With this encouragement, there is a good possibility that Congress will focus on drafting a true energy bill before they tackle healthcare reform. If healthcare gets to the top of the agenda, it could push the energy legislation back as much as a year. We all know what that means, another year of shoveling billions more into our adversaries economies...not good.

The conference call also provided a main discussion point to address with our local Representatives. If you do decide to make a personal phone call or submit a letter with the intent to gain support for the Pickens Plan, you are likely to receive a mediocre, gray, between the lines type response. Think of trying to cut a tomato seed, no matter how hard you try, it just slips out from under even the sharpest knife. Well, we need to have an effective comeback. Boone suggested the following response, "Well, if you don't support the Pickens Plan, what plan do you support? Because if you don't support any plan, that means, by default you support the status quo...importing foreign oil.". With the 2010 election cycle coming up pretty quick, I don't think any of our Legislators want to be tagged as supporting foreign oil.

As I'm sure you have all seen, the goal for the Virtual March is to conclude with 1 million events. During the stepped up campaign, just before the Stimulus Bill was signed, our District did great. I know we have some active supporters. For those of you who need a little nudge to get off the fence, just consider that your personal input has a huge impact on the collective force to gain our nation’s energy independence.

Thanks again for your time and efforts,
Dave Clement

For any of you living in the East Valley-
A message from Dave Clement, district leader, to all members of the Pickens Plan, District AZ-06 area!

Arizona Congressional District 6 Virtual March Kickoff Meeting

This Saturday, Mar 28th, 4:00 PM, Discovery Park in Gilbert, Diggers Cove Ramada
Map- http://www.ci.gilbert.az.us/eservices/parks/pdf/maps/discovery0309b.pdf
There are a lot of things available in this park if you want to let the kids play during, before or after the meeting. Its right off of the loop 202, East Side, San Tan Parkway on the North side and Pecos Rd on the South side.
The Diggers Cove Ramada is the closest ramada to where Greenfield and San Tan Parkway intersect. There are 2 picnic tables and shade, bring a folding chair, would probably be more comfortable. There are facilities in the park!
We have oval Pickens Plan stickers for you this time, and maybe some more door prizes.
Hope to see you there.
Thanks,
Dave

Tomorrow a new President will be sworn in, it will be an historic day for this country. The Pickens Plan is making history too.
I suggest strongly, that you join your congressional district group. This gives us numbers in each specific congressional district to use when we talk to our leaders from that district.
Please join your district group.
Please communicate with our leaders
get letters to the editor into our local papers
And talk to more people about joining!
Everything you need is on the pickens plan website and
most of it you can do right from your key board now!
Thanks for helping us push the plan!

I have been following the Pickens Plan and now hope that since the election is over we, as adult students at the UoP, can band together for energy independence!
