Wise words from a Friend.
This says it all.

You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy
out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another
person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to
anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody
else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to
work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the
other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody
else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is about
the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.

The world needs crazy ideas to change things, because the conventional way of thinking is not working anymore.

Below is an Op-Ed piece I wrote that will be published throughout Virginia. Any Thoughts?

Wind Energy has a Future in Virginia

With so much discussion and anticipation about off shore drilling, Virginia may be ignoring a valuable resource of electricity, that’s blowing in the wind. Virginia is currently ranked 28th in the United States in potential wind generation capacity, with 1380MW (Mega Watts). The annual amount of energy generation would be 12 billion kWh (kilowatt hours). As of today, Virginia has zero wind projects in existence and zero wind projects under construction, according to AWEA (American Wind Energy Association).
T. Boone Pickens Plan, is the only proposal on the table which will lower our dependence on foreign oil by up to 50 percent over the next ten years. Our Governor, State Legislators and all local elected officials in The Commonwealth of Virginia, should position our state, to become a major player in the wind energy industry.
With budget shortfalls upon us, wind energy presents an opportunity to generate revenue, and bring jobs to Virginia. We have a talented pool of manufacturing workers available, via the closure of the Ford plant in Norfolk. We have excellent engineers from the U.S. Navy and Northrop Grumman. Bankers, Lawyers, Truckers, Construction workers and IT professionals would be needed to spearhead the success of wind energy in Virginia. We have the people and technology to substantiate wind energy, as a new industry, leading Virginia into the future.
Wind in Virginia is available on shore and offshore, both presenting lucrative financial possibilities to large landowners, local governments and state government, through the sale of wind generated electricity to the national grid, throughout the United States. Other states such as Minnesota, Texas, Iowa, Oregon and Washington and several others have felt the financial success of bringing wind energy projects to their state. Virginia is missing out, on a golden opportunity to generate desperately needed revenue.
Virginia has always led the way in its patriotic duties, via the fine men and women who serve in our armed forces. I think we should be involved in releasing our country from the barrels of oil, held over our heads by unstable nations. America needs the tenacity and work ethic that Virginians have always shown, when duty calls.
Twenty Two percent of electrical power produced in the United States comes from natural gas. The Department of Energy did a study showing twenty percent of our electrical power needs could be generated from wind energy in the “wind corridor” stretching from northern Texas to the Canadian boarder. The state of Virginia possesses class 3, 4 and 5 scale winds, according to NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratory).
The T.Boone Pickens Plan and The DOE ( Department of Energy) study has proven that by freeing up natural gas to be used instead of diesel to power over-the-road trucks, we can reduce seventy percent of our imported oil that is used as a transportation fuel. Thirty percent of that imported oil is used as diesel fuel for heavy trucks. Current battery technology does not provide enough power to move an 18-wheeler. By replacing existing heavy trucks burning imported diesel with trucks running on domestic natural gas, we can immediately reverse our dependence on foreign oil.
Let’s not let the current low gasoline prices lull us into a false sense of security. Reducing Americas’ dependence on foreign oil should remain a top priority for us all. Creating a new industry in our country that will bring hundreds and thousands of new jobs, is what America craves. Wind Energy is that new industry. T. Boone Pickens Plan will work, and the Commonwealth of Virginia should prepare itself to help.

Greenhouse Gas Emissions Projection Staggering

Global warming is an issue pertaining to the world, and is as a result of human interferences and activities. It has not only put the world at risk of a complete ‘meltdown’ of the ice at the poles, but also is destroying the very atmosphere which helps us breathe. Car emissions, burning of fossil fuels, volcanic eruptions, forest fires, all contribute to the increasing amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, a global catastrophe which the world is trying to cope with. The number of laws set and agreed upon by many a nation, wasn’t signed by USA, the largest polluter in the world, leading to a steady rise in greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) over the past few years. Let’s find out what led to this rapid rise in GHG over the last few years in USA.

Greenhouse gases are atmospheric gases, both natural and anthropogenic, which emit and absorb radiation of the infrared radiation emitted by the sun and reflected by the clouds. This cycle is known as the greenhouse effect. When anthropogenic gases like pollutants are released into the atmosphere, they can trap radiation, resulting in a heating up of the atmosphere. This process causes global warming.

According to the report released by the Energy Information Administration (EIA) in 2007, total US greenhouse gas emissions have increased 1.4 percent from the level in 2006, that is, the carbon dioxide equivalent was 7,282 million metric tons. The report had calculated that over the past decade and a half, the emissions have risen at an average annual rate of 0.9 percent. The report mentions the carbon intensity values as well, which are calculated against GHG emissions per unit of GDP. The GHG dropped considerably from 636 metric tons/million dollars (MMTCO2e/million dollars GDP) to 632 MMTCO2e/million dollars GDP in 2007, a decline of 0.6 percent. Average GHG intensity declines have been 1.9 percent annually since 1990, the report states…

The EIA report specified the total estimated US GHG emission in 2007 at around 6,022 million metric tons of carbon dioxide, about 82.6 percent of total emissions, 9.6 percent of methane, 5.3 percent of nitrous oxide and around 2.4 percent of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), perfluorocarbons (PFCs), and sulfur hexafluoride (SF6). The HFC, PFC and SF6 emissions, also called the “high-GWP gases” because of their ability to absorb and trap heat, rose by 3.3% in 2007.

The CO2 levels emanating from industrial and energy consumption processes rose by an average annual rate of 1.1 percent per year between 1990 and 2006 and increased by 1.3 percent by 2007, the EIA reported. Authorities blamed the varying weather patterns which had led to over consumption of energy, which had resulted in this rise, since there was a lack of hydro electric power, which meant higher carbon dioxide emissions! Methane emissions increased as well, as a result, by 1.9 percent, while nitrous oxide levels in the atmosphere shot up by 2.2 percent above average normal levels.

This report is not promising, which makes Pickens Plan more viable.

Hope all is well
I found 80 acres of land in Wyoming and think it would be a great place to set up a Small wind & solar low cost Energy Efficient Neighborhood with Micro Model Starter Homes.

My question is would you have any Interest.

Thats my idea !!
Let my know if this is Discussion Worthy.
