I am very interested in setting up a natural gas fuel truckstop / filling station
and or electricity generating facility
on my property at the intersection of I 70 and I 77 in Ohio.
We have natural gas on site.
The freeways go all 4 directions across the United States.
I would like to do this in association with the Pickens plan.
Who do I talk to, where can I start?
Thanks,

Hi Shon,

Well, which one of these projects would you like to do? If you are going to have an electricity station located there you will more than likely need to use PV Solar or a Parabolic Dish System to do it, as you just don't have the necessary wind in Ohio to make it worth your while to use a Wind Turbine to provide the electricity. You do, however, most certainly get enough sunshine there at your location. How much land do you own at this location? You will need a good deal of space to construct a Solar facility of either type. You can do it all as a ground-mount system if you have the acreage and the funds to get it all started. I can certainly supply you with the materials and installation if you can come up with the funding.

How much profit/electricity could it make per square foot, if that is applicable, or per acre...with solar.

Hi Shon,

I would have to sit down and do a lot of figuring, but I could come up with an answer for you in a few days. Obviously, there are a great many variables that must be considered. Number one, what type of system would you choose to use? A Parabolic Dish System for steam to turn a generator or PV Solar? I can give you an answer to your question, but it will take me a few days to get back to you, as I will only be working on this in my spare time, which is not very plentiful right now. However, it will be sort of fun just to see what a guy could do if he had the funding.

I( have heard it takes many years to break even on solar panels,
let alome generate a profit....perhaps there is new tech.
I wonder if this is something that would appeal to investors,
(it would have to make money)

Shon, you have emailed me several times about this, asking about this. And not listened to my responses or have no money to implement what I suggested.

You have NG, which the price is very low. But if you installed NG generators, you could sell electricity to the grid. And build on that.

Once Boone gets the big rigs on NG, you can have a truck stop there.
But NG generators can be done now.
Or build a NG cracking plant, to break the NG to hydrogen. NG cracking.

I am very interested in this.
Funding is somewhat of a problem,
in that it needs to be raised.
One other thing I wonder about is the cost of the 'phase' equipment/ hardware
needed to connect to the power line and sell electricity.
I have heard that equipment is expensive.
People do net metering without it,
may be that is for amounts of electricity so low you don't make money.
I actually have two Leroi 75 KW natural gas generators on site,
and the power lines are there.
They are hooked up to the gas well.
Selling electricity is not something
they make very straightforward.
You have to wade through it all,
and figure everything out.
They don't just send out a letter or have a booklet
that tells how

In petroleum geology and chemistry, cracking is the process whereby complex organic molecules such as kerogens or heavy hydrocarbons are broken down into simpler molecules (e.g. light hydrocarbons) by the breaking of carbon-carbon bonds in the precursors.

I do understand, sorry I cannot help more.
I am in the same boat.

Hi Shon,
Just to give you an idea we are considering converting the three tank sewage treatment facility shown here
Link:

We are looking at a solar/wind power system hooked to our electrolyzers to produce Hydrogen and Chlorine. The plant would be set up in three phases. First phase - production and sale of gases only. Second phase - a phosphoric acid based stationary hydrogen fuel cell to produce on demand electricity, 3rd phase - Methane digestion plant to produce Methane for Hydrogen extraction and electricity production through the phase 2 fuel cell.
To give you an idea of some of the problems. The nearest real data site is the San Marcos, Texas airport. There systme reports and average 8 mph wind and a DNI of 4.2 (solar).

This would give us an average output of 15 KW/hr (wind) and eliminates the use of Concentrator PV solar systems. The 100 KW (ideal) pilot plant will cost around $250K for power setup making this site questionable in regards to economic return if only electric generation is considered. Combination of all products is necessary to obtain a reasonable break even time period and ROI. Hope this helps in your plans.

Shon, I doubt there are any real investors here. But, you might talk to this guy. Join linkedin.com

He posted this in environmental investors today.
PPA financing available for project from
100kw to 10MW
Please email me your project details to include your PPA agreement. The agreement does not need to be with a utility just a credit worthy party.
