Randell, I think that, while the economy has hurt finding backing. There are too many scammers still doing business like Madoff. While the big peoples gatekeeper's limited knowledge base doesnt help. Plasma is not hard to understand, its just not in your normal skillset. Having more than one application distracts people as well. I have not picked a particular design, but one that has a metal capture will do.

James, the more I research plasma gasification, the more interesting it becomes. I am an ME with recent experience with metal recycling utilizing pyrolysis. Without any proprietary details, what are the major differences or advantages in your design versus Hitachi, Westinghouse, Recovered Energy, Inc. (http://www.recoveredenergy.com/), etc.? Do you have a final design on the equipment & the plant layout or still in development stage? I'm trying to understand the reason you have been unable to secure some financial backing (technological, marketing, return on capital, etc.).

What we need is a grass roots effort. Starting from the bottom. Not a political movement but a doing movement. We need to get the drive that got a man to invent a light bulb before he created an electric company. We need bicyle mechanics to invent a flying machine before there were airports. It's build it and they will come.

I share Kenn's skepticism and frustration with these issues. There are so many viable answers and yet nothing is being done. What is being done is controlled by profit mongers who manipulate the markets.

Taylor, flaring is a disturbing waste of energy but typically comes down to economics. I have three suggestions to get you in the game: (1) provide the landfill management a cost/benefit analysis for installing equipment which would take advantage of the release, (2) negotiate with the landfill for the methane and install your own capital equipment and reap the rewards, or (3) become a member of www.stoptheflares.gov and contribute to the cause.

Another big waste by product is: CO2. Hopefully, they'll soon be a solution to the storage battery for Electric Vehicles. Then, for civilian transportation, not necessarly freight, a conversion to Plug In EV's. Produce Electricity from all available viable sources at a central power plant. Vent the CO2 to either Greenhouses. Or, Petro Alage Farms. The Green Diesel could be used for Semi's hauling heavy loads. Get rid of the personal Internal Combustion Engine powered vehicles. Have a major CA$H for Clunkers at a time when affordable Plug In EV's are moving into production.
We have ideas which are realistic. But will they ever become reality???

They could. Depends on how much. How constant. Is there a cost effective use for it?

They burn off the methane so as to not release it into the atmosphere - Greenhouse gas. Same with dilluted NAT GAS.

Being a member of this blog and its parent organization does not carry with it the mandate to actively comment on blog statements. Many of us joined to read, to learn and comtemplate the significance of what is being expoused by the most active members in this group. Mr. Drescher's comments about us joining just because of a TV program, losing interest or our Internet are totally unwarranted comments. Just because we don't chime in every hour and become overinulerated with the succumberance of our own verbosity does not mean we have no activity in the field or are worthless members of this blog.

I mention the WASTE of NAT GAS here as this topic of NAT GAS is now before the Senate. And is the crux of this site. NAT GAS, was long thought of as a by product, waste to be burned off in the quest for black gold.
Now, the idea of NG again being seriously considered as an Alt fuel is being discussed, deliberated, and will be implementated with Gov. $'s.
Is this the best Alt Energy to be focused on? (I believe in all viable forms of Alt Energy. But only a few will actually get funded.) If so, are we being leveled with. Or, is this just another cornny E-85 dupin'?
How much NAT GAS is really out thar. Available w/o the Fracking method of recovery. How much is being intentionally "wasted", to reduce supply? And by whom? We need answers to these, and Your ?'s about NG, as this Energy sourse is the acute Topic at hand.
