They could. Depends on how much. How constant. Is there a cost effective use for it?

They burn off the methane so as to not release it into the atmosphere - Greenhouse gas. Same with dilluted NAT GAS.

Being a member of this blog and its parent organization does not carry with it the mandate to actively comment on blog statements. Many of us joined to read, to learn and comtemplate the significance of what is being expoused by the most active members in this group. Mr. Drescher's comments about us joining just because of a TV program, losing interest or our Internet are totally unwarranted comments. Just because we don't chime in every hour and become overinulerated with the succumberance of our own verbosity does not mean we have no activity in the field or are worthless members of this blog.

I mention the WASTE of NAT GAS here as this topic of NAT GAS is now before the Senate. And is the crux of this site. NAT GAS, was long thought of as a by product, waste to be burned off in the quest for black gold.
Now, the idea of NG again being seriously considered as an Alt fuel is being discussed, deliberated, and will be implementated with Gov. $'s.
Is this the best Alt Energy to be focused on? (I believe in all viable forms of Alt Energy. But only a few will actually get funded.) If so, are we being leveled with. Or, is this just another cornny E-85 dupin'?
How much NAT GAS is really out thar. Available w/o the Fracking method of recovery. How much is being intentionally "wasted", to reduce supply? And by whom? We need answers to these, and Your ?'s about NG, as this Energy sourse is the acute Topic at hand.

I just did a scan of my City. Lists 346 "members". Of those, only myself, and 1 other have had much activity since last year. I guess most saw the TV commercial, joined than lost interest. Or, maybe, their internet?
This PP Site has become an interesting forum. This is a valuable discussion, but I'm percieving that the intent of the Founders is now focused on promoting NAT GAS. For profit.

Lotz of enthusiasm here, but how much implementation? I know 1 member's Windspire was installed at a local College.

NAT GAS as an Alt Energy is not new. I recall 36 years ago Nixon ordered all out door Nat Gas Lights, and BBQ Grills shut off. City Buses were NG powered.

NAT GAS should be cheap. Here it's higher than Electricity. I found out why... We're not being sold cheap domesticly produced NG. We're getting ripped of cause the Gas Co. is buying, and selling us reconstituted: L.N.G. from abroad. That's reality. Mean time NAT GAS is being wasted, and flamed off as fast as possible, so as to hike up the price. Tar Sands crude, which is a base material, requires I read, twice as much NG to produce. Why not just forget the Tar Sands crude, and pipe the NAT GAS to Distributers? Than there's the ? of what happens to the $ of NG when demand picks up? Is there still the Bush mandate for E-85? That requires Corn to be grown using fertilizer which is made from: NAT GAS. As well as, NG is used as fuel in the process. Soak the soil with it, grow corn, and yep... NG is used to heat up the Mash to ferment the Ethanol. Sounds to me like a conspiracy to WASTE NAT GAS.
Any1 see the "Right", and "Wrong" here?

I am happy to join your groupe. I am involved with waste heat engine that can revoutionize the way people heat their home and business by creating power why you heat your home by modification of your system. Like for instance you can install a coil in the waste pipe of your stove and with a small steam turbine you can convert that waste heat into power and the system can be conbined wiyh thermal solar collectors.

Also, JC Freeman of Houston has labspace/shop we can use. The current Mayor of Houston is interested. We only need funding, we have alot of talent here, that need jobs. We can get grants. 400 billion in research grants are available. By the way they are pumping CO2 into the ground on a $1 billion grant. Link

Waste water treatment facilities are a prime example of a way sewage can be used especially for electricity since systems are available now, not in the future.

Methane can be burned directly or stationary hydrogen fuel cells using methane or natural gas are available on the open market today with over 750 installations worldwide. The technology for hydrogen extraction from Methane or Natural gas is not new and available on existing systems. CO2 is still generated though, this is where Jame's technology could come in very effectively.

In addition, methanol can be generated from methane and water (ask my chemist colleagues - still do not understand the process :-)

KENN DRESCHER ~What about sewage , Sewage is a huge source of energy using the next generation of Plasma , even Old Arc and Lase but those would still produce greenhouse gases . Once you understand what James Tracy has , backed up by NASA Chief Technologist , retired about a year ago after 16 years , Dr. Paul Curto . along with Nelson Camus, and Charles Ivie who will vouch for Tracy . Then you would see how precious sewage really is in making energy . You have brought up a great point , This is an efficient realistic way to convert sewage to energy .

Haven't scan all these comments...
What about sewage?
20 years ago, a Doctor in St Louis was designing a system which would line sewer pipes with air tight tubing, than vent the methane to a power plant.
This just seems to be an untaped resource...
Over the years, beginning especially in '73, we've heard thousands of Alt Energy ideas. Basically, all I see is that: E-10 blend Gas/Ethanol. And Diesel, as passenger car fuel - which used to be cheap, and was mostly Highway Diesel back then, have become viable alternatives to gasoline. Now diesel is more expensive than gas.

I suspect, with Iran being dealt with, (They launched their salvos, and price of a barrel of Oil stayed around = $70.oo.) and the Clean Energy Bill, + the Natural Gas Act comming before Congress that we could see Gasoline BELOW = $2.00 a Gal. Running between $2.01 < $2.20 in my area now. This has been the pattern - when a forceful push begins for Alt fuels, OPEC ups production. Gas looks cheap. Fund, and enthusisam for Alt Fuels wains... Gotta keep the momentum going! We know that the price won't stay down for long! Remember when $2.00 a Gal Gas was shocking?!! Now it seems cheap.
