We want to Invest in the Pickens Plan

This is a group for people who are interesting in investing in the Pickens Plan both financially and globally. I am not sure how exactly to go about investing so I created this group to discuss what action we need to take to accomplish this.

Glad to join, felt somewhat alone until now. I asked my broker if there were any plans focused just on renewable energy/green 3 yrs ago. He looked and has looked every year without success. I hope that Pickens has the bright idea that to really get people involved in the solution on a grass roots level is to help them invest in the technology. Create methods that allow investors to easily track down companies of interest. Nothing like a person sharing to others how they invested in this or that over lunch or dinner... that drives interest and creates the funding for the solutions. The one thing Americans are good at is adapting and creating solutions. It's time to do it again.

From your analysis Rick, it appears that SWN is the best one the buy, and I did notice that since it's creation the stock has only steadily increased.

Just read about a new wind energy company, although they are losing money at this time. For what its worth I ran the stocks in the comments throught my stock grading software although not all of them are in the data base. It is an average of 15 different analysts ratings. A's are buy, C's are hold, D and below are sell. ESLR-C, HTE-D, PVX-C, PGH-C, HK-B-, CHK-B, KDE-D, SWN-A-, ORA-B+, LNG-D.

My 2 cents. I've been an investor in a little known Canadian company called Westport Innovations for quite some time. They make the special engine parts (CNG, LNG, syngas, hydrogen) for the big 5 trucking manufacturers, Ford, BMW, and are only one building it for trucks. The more I've researched about them, the more convinced I got they have a monopoly and this is where transport is going. Stockgumshoe.com had a big writeup on them as well with the inevitable bonanaza deal of 8,500 engines with the LA ports yet to even factored in the stock and the only engines certified for 2012 EPA standards. A while back I realized Pickens happens to be a 10% stakeholder in them as well as his Clean Energy Fuels Corp (nat gas stations).

I'm a long term supporter of alternative energy. About three years ago I put a small sum of money where my mouth is and bought stock in my IRA in Vestas Wind Systems. My stock is now worth more than 7 fold. I'm not a wealthy person, just average middle class, but I'd be more than happy to invest some more in the Pickens plan.

Excellent everyone! I can't wait to see the stock in the NYSE. Hopefully it will pay dividends like my Canadian oil stocks. I'd rather be investing in American wind energy stocks!!!!!!!!!!!!

USA!

I agree this is going to be a very large growth sector. And I especially like what Alen Shaffer below said about allowing any monetary amount an opportunity to invest.

I supspect as each each of you too realized that there is going to be a great deal of money to be made with wind and solar energy in the future. I would like to become part of the people who too will share in such money, although my push is for the construction end of it. Wonder how I could become a builder of such wind or solar objects. Any ideas? Any ideas how to contact Pickens personally?
