A very good question I hadn't thought of that yet .Micheal Kendal's proposal of Energy Bonds, which I think an excellent plan appears to have a few options. Our Federal Government or each state selling it's own? For the sake of safety, Micheal has and his suggestion that each state sell it's own bonds a very clever, well thought out idea. The federal government has not earned my trust. we have seen both the house and senate have their expensive one week vacations WITH their families on our TAX DOLLARS while the rest of us, the MAJORITY is told to skinny down. Polls have indicated that we have all skinned down, not by choice but by necessity. We have tightened our belts so why on earth do these select individuals who are supposed to be representing us, the majority, living it up? Should they not be leading by example? Does this make any of us feel good? Does it instill faith in our mouthpieces in DC? Not for me.Another option would be a credit union for the people and run by the people. It appears to me, our mouth pieces in DC, become more corrupt the longer they are on The Hill. If out president can only serve two terms in office why not make two terms the limit for our state reps? I, for one am tired of the rich minority dictating to the poor majority who become more poor by the day.We need change.

I think that the LinkedIn approach to proving a person's credentials and credibility is pretty good. This is a network of professionals who have done business with one another, and their connection to other individuals can be well documented.

Don't deal with a person who can not join LinkedIn.com , and the more people he is linked too and can vouch for him the better.

This is a very difficult decision - a prime example of today's abuse of trust is the case of Bernie Madoff - the former Chairman of the NASDAQ - he had credentials oozing out of him - and that is why it took so long for his scam to go undetected - his reputation was above reproach. Some of the people who look the best on paper can become some of the most manipulative con men - and it usually emanates from their hubris and the desire to cover up a mistake rather than admit human fallibility.

Also, these better not be Government-backed bonds because then we lose all control and are at the mercy of the whims and caprices and paybacks of politicians, whose backroom dealings remain privy to a select few!

The current Obama administration may have the noblest of intentions, but once a government-backed program is put in place it tends to have a life of its own, and becomes a genie out of the bottle - granting the wishes of the successors who hold power to request fulfillment of their desires.

If we are to fund actual implementation of any alternative energy plan we will need a plan and built in protections from being scammed. (Interesting that it starts with two "P's": Plan and Protections.) The plan should include a corporate charter that spells out how everything is to run from the receipt of funds and their management to expenditures (some of which will have to be for operations.) Even the best run charities require some money for operations. So. To begin with, we need some members who are attorneys and skilled at writing corporate charters for financial institutions to lay out the skeleton of the organization we hope to create. No one person should have unlimited personal authority to spend money. There should probably be a Board of Directors with final-word authority over every aspect of the operation but a separate body of more specialized talents empowered to select specific projects to be funded. One of their first tasks should be to identify the criteria that any project would have to meet in order to receive funds from our (dare I call it a) "foundation". Once that guiding document has been created then that group could begin to evaluate inndividual projects. There will have to be employees. I would suggest that we contact the Rocky Mountain Institute, headed by Amory Lovins, to see if they can offer assistance and of course if we could make direct contact with our own Pickens Plan central office and or Mr. T. Boone Pickens or his investment firm we could determine whether they could help to bring this to fruition. If any of this sounds right we will all have to contribute to the effort to flesh-it-out.

Hi Chris,
Yes, I think both Federal and State could work together. If there is a particular project that is proposed and the state level funding is not enough the Federal level can step in and give it the last mile to completion. I'm not expert and there will be alot of naysayers but the bottom line is if people want it to happen and we get the support of our elected officials it will happen. United we stand and divided we fall. There is no "I" in teamwork. I have posts that claim it will take too long to take affect. That is balogne. War bonds did not take years to have an affect. If they would have we would not have been able to fund the war and would not have been victorious. The affect was quick. War bonds were also sold in WWI and they were called Liberty Bonds then. World War 1 cost us 30 billion dollars. We did not even come close to that in national expenditures and the Liberty Bonds made it happen. WWII was the same. Energy Independence can be the same also. We need to have the right mindset and become united as a nation on this. This would allow the people to speak through our own wallets and get savings at the same time. The government has no problem borrowing money already so why not do it some more for Energy Independence? We will create jobs for ourselves by doing this. Walmart is the 3rd largest importer of goods from China (it blows away many nations in that area). I will happily cut down on what I buy that is made in China as I pretty much already have all the clothes on my back that I need and really don't need any more consumer electronics or other toys. I'd much rather spend my money on our country achieving energy independence.
Best Regards,
Mike Kendall

You are not going to change things overnight, and you will not be able to plan and execute a large or expensive project.

First, you need a small simple project like build a little wind generator somewhere and sell the power to the grid. Form an association and charge $10 to join - refundable after the project becomes operational. No interest - no profit. This is a feasibility project. As you collect the money you post it on line and show the parts of the plan that are being paid as you go.

Club members can loan funds to the association interest free. When the generator goes on line there will be revenue to refund all the contributions, and you will be on your way to building many more systems. You do not have to get power for yourself and you do not have to go big to make this kind of effort productive. It is an exercise in team building. With a large enough team you can run the world, but you will have to start small. This has to be a community project, but your community can be individuals from all over the US. Heck, I will send you $10.

Wise words from a Friend.
This says it all.

You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy
out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another
person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to
anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody
else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to
work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the
other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody
else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is about
the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.

Mike
