Being only in my late teens I don't need anything that size. However if they were to come out with something smaller it might be worth the investment.

J.P., ANY vehicle can run on CNG, it does not have to be a Suburban. What kind of NGV would you like? We would be happy to build it for you.

Thank You!

Dan, What the lady in the news room did not state, is that an EPA certified "conversion" starts at $15,000 and to realistically drive a dedicated fuel vehicle as required by EPA certification to get your Federal handout, then you are looking at least $18,000 for the "conversion"

We are providing the most economical, aftermarket fuel system upgrades available. The only people that are undercutting our cost are doing so by skipping safety features that are required for gaseous fuels and they are using Non-US Spec parts. Thesde opportunistic folks have no clue what they are doing and they are creating an explosive situation. Someone is going to get hurt or die from the cheap "converwsions that were brought about by the recent high gas prices. As well, the harder any entity tries to regulate CNG fuel systems, the more expensive they become, thus creating more demand for the unsafe, non-US spec hack jobs that luckily have dried up right now with the plumiting petroleum prices. Obviously the price at the pump is manipulated. Most recently because the "alternatives" were gaining market share and becoming more than just competititve, but becoming mainstream.

If you want to become a "pig at the trough" and ask for fedral handouts to lower the cost of NGV's, I warn you that that is not constitutional. The evidence is allready apperant, the Federal handout system does not work. In the NGV industry, these handouts come from someone, and they end up making CNG fuel system cost more and the consumer gets less. Dedicated CNG system for $18,000? or an Intergalactic, Beyond Compliance system for $10,000????? Yes, you can get an unsafe system installed for $7,500, but skipping on DOT fuel cylinders, and skipping on the safety features required by NFPA and FMVSS is not something we are willing to do.

All of our American Fuel Vehicles are beyond US DOT, CGA, FMVSS and NFPA standards. These are standards I am not willing to cut corners around, because when implemented properly, these standards are what ensure safety of the occupants of our vehilces and those around them.

Our end goal is to be the manufacturer of vehilces, on the assembly line. built from the ground up around the fuel cylinders, and for the multi-fuels to opperate them seamlessly around the United States of America without the need for finite, toxic, crude oil based fuels that would be much better utilized producing durable goods than poluting fuels.

If you want the price to come down, you must get on board. Right now is your opportunity to buy in and be prepaired for the next gasoline spike. The more peopel buy in, right now, the better it makes it for the next deployment.

It is up to us, as responsible individuals to make the proper choices today that will affect our future, and the future of our children. Our kids deserve to breath clean air, drink pure water and enjoy their individual liberites. Dude, where did my country go? We have to restore our Republic, end the Federal Reserve and alow Americans to prosper instead of stradeling us with debt as the current bailouts and handouts are perpetuating.

This is great, if we could only get the big 3 auto makers to go to this type of hybrid as part of their bail-out requirments we would have a great start in correcting our present view and dependence on oil.

We have owned a series of Suburbans/Yukon XL's since the 70's. We need them as we are in the construction business. Interestingly enough, the fuel mileage decreased with each vehicle bought through the years - even though we think the vehicle weight decreased as well due to the increased use of plastics, etc. We all know light trucks are needed and wanted in the U.S. The profit on these vehicles is also much higher than on smaller cars. It's dumbfounding that the auto makers JUST DON'T GET IT.

obviously this is a PERFECT way to stimulate the economy by transforming our current vehicles (especialy big rigs, buses, and other high pollutant vehicles) over to CNG...u will create jobs locally, we will produce and provide our own natural resources, and last but not least we will get a new start on ensuring THIS PLANETS safety and well being...this can also buy a litlle time so that the BIG 3 can get there BUTTS INTO GEAR...this is DEFINITLY a no brainer and anyone who says other wise most likely has an agenda to witch they are obligated to stand by....sad

Why does it cost $18,000 to convert a vehicle to run on CNG, but only about $2000 to convert one to run on LPG?
Comment by Tai Robinson on January 18, 2009 at 12:14pm
Brett,

An EPA "certified" CNG conversion will run you $18,000. We can install the exact same components, get the same, or better emissions and fuel economy benefits starting at $8,000. So, the point is, the undue regulation imposed by the unconstitutional orgaization known as the "EPA" makes the "conversion" cost prohibitive.

An LPG fuel cylinder is the biggest difference in cost compared to a high pressure CNG storage vessal. But check further, I bet your quote of $2,000 for an LPG system probably is just the "kit" and does not include fuel tubing or fuel cylinder, instaltion.

Thank you for your interest!

I have a CNG Vehicle. A 1954 John Deere Model 60. Runs on Propane/CNG, Kerosene, or Gasoline, no modification required. Just turn a switch. Sips fuel too! You would think that in the past 55 years we would have made some progress. -_-
