I've been wondering if we are missing an important link to saving energy: trains. Currently, the trains run at slower speeds than they did 100 years ago because the tracks have been allowed to deteriorate to such an extent that trains must limit the…

Yes
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
My husband and I ran our cabin from solar panels for over 10 years, when no grid power was available. We have grid power now, but we still don't have running water. We collect our drinking water off the roof, in an outside tank, then filter it with a triple header filter before bringing it into the house. I've been pro alternate energy for over 40 years.
What excites you about this campaign?
I'm seriously hoping we can swing people's thinking to a long term solution to our energy needs. Oil is a very short sighted and increasingly short term solution. I'm also excited that a well-known oilman would start this movement. Perhaps the best part is to get average citizens directly involved. We sit back too often and wait for government to solve our problems. This movement gives us the option to push for ecological change in a really positive way.
What do you want to do to help?
I'm willing to contact local agencies, politicians, the University Officials and private citizens. I am well able to use a computer and have access. I have lived in Alaska since 1968 and I am acquainted with many people in all walks of life.

Thanks for the good work you are doing in Alaska. We are doing our best to get California moving ahead. Unfortunately we have about 16 districts without leaders. Wayne Bowser and I have been trying to get your elected officiald on the Green Revolution Show, perhaps you can help. If you would like to be on the show please contact me by phone at 760-961-1312, or email jwnobles1@verizon.net. We have had Boone Pickens, Congressman Brian Bilbray, Mayors, Business/Industry Leaders and others as guest...you will be in good company. Hope to hear from you.
Thanks for the reminder. I will now ask for signatures. I went to an Ocean event recently with many business and booths present. I won't forget the Petitions this weekend if I can make it to the Juneteenth and/or Pride events in Anchorage, Alaska.

Free Alternative Energy Available Now !
America Continues to Waste over 70% of the Energy it Consumes.
100's of millions of lights unnecessarily burn during the day and night, over heating and over cooling is the norm, over packaging, inadequate recycling, toxic landfills, horrendous road congestion, and our perverted obsession with road construction. Public and Private buildings, Schools, Churches, Homes, ... America's blatant energy waste and overuse is culturally pervasive, and abominable !
1- ONLY with a substantial and tangible economic reward/consequence will most Americans care to conserve.
Crude oil must be taxed at $200 per barrel and offset by making income tax begin at $60k.
Taxing energy is simple, fair, economically sound, and available TODAY.
2- The American auto industry must quickly transition to the 6.4 BILLION people reason$ to manufacture solar, wind, and other alternative energy producers. They already have the needed infrastructure. Every home and building in the world, could be using solar energy. We are fast running out of fossil fuels !
Humanity is racing toward extinction, via global warming, for our failure to stop our energy waste.
Taxing energy (in lieu of income taxes) is the ONLY incentive that will stop energy waste and cause renewable energy sources to be employed.

Joyce,
Great idea! Let me know how it goes. Remember the Energy Summit today. Sec. Salazar takes a step in the right direction
Last week, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, issued a change in course for U.S. conservation policy. Our Oceans Program Director, David Dickson, said it best: "We applaud Secretary Salazar's efforts to take a step back and revisit the Bush administration's proposals for oil and gas development in the nation's offshore areas, particularly in America's Arctic region in Alaska."
It's about time our government sought a "new way forward" on energy development that takes public concern, and even science, into consideration. Sec. Salazar took an important first step, but there's more work to be done.
The current five year plan (2007-2015) for the Arctic Ocean, developed by the Bush administration, contains vast plans for development in Arctic waters that are already being implemented, including the largest blocks of Arctic waters yet to be offered.
Before one more acre of Arctic waters is leased to the oil and gas industry, we urge Sec. Salazar to call for a timeout on all oil and gas activity in the Arctic Ocean, to ensure that the reckless decisions of the past do no more damage in the future.
Can you write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper to encourage Sec. Salazar to continue on the path to responsible policies and preserve America's Arctic?
Hi Joyce,
I am glad to help where I can. I live in Alaska half the year. I am actively involved in creating the Ninth World Wilderness Congress youth track about wilderness conservation as a strategic response to climate change. Let's see what we can vortex together in Alaska for renewable energies.
