Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I have been developing a very promising design of windmill. See more at

http://www.biztimes.com/news/2009/2/6/innovations-racine-inventor-c...

The latest, MUCH improved system works off the principle of collecting vast amounts of wind flow and 'squeezing' it through a smaller opening via a series of patent pending baffle systems, thereby accelerating it (SEE ILLUSTRATIONS IN MY PHOTOS) .

A second, but equally important characteristic is the stationary baffle system creates 100% positive air flow... this means there is ZERO opposing pressure to rotor rotation. This has never before been accomplished (I have not seen it anywhere... if you have, please email me) with a VAWT design.

It has been nearly impossible to gain solid funding support for a completely unexplored realm of science (not ever has there been, to my knowledge, a VAWT that is capable of 15,000 sq ft of swept area or larger-see my blog 'Invention without support') because the opinion of the entrenched scientific community is there is not a way to make a successful (or marketable) vertical windmill.

If you are intrigued with what you see, please drop a line as this project is in jeopardy due to financial backer has defaulted due to the economy.
What excites you about this campaign?
It is exciting to think of energy from the wind enmasse being utilized for every day life. I personally believe there are technologies that are stuck in quagmire of chasing funding. If more serious attention is given to us inventors and the technologies we sacrifice our lives (and sanity) to develop, the questions of how it can be done would answer themselves.
What do you want to do to help?
I want to introduce to those of influence to a design of windmill (a very different design than what is in the pics-next design is BIGGER) capable of 150,000 to 250,000 square ft of swept area (depending on structural capabilities), with an expected output capability between 12 to 36 Mw from a machine that can be delivered & online for less than $5M (RETAIL).

Why 2009 will not be as bad as predicted!

I am of the opinion that a major factor in the downturn of our economy was the excessive cost of gasoline and diesel (see my discussion in "ENERGY PARTY" titled "The cost of transportation in the US...") and because of this the excessive cost of transporting EVERYTHING in the US.

Our economy in the US depends upon cheap energy. 70% of all oil consumed by the US is devoted to transportation... the moving of goods, services, people... essentially TRANSPORTING our GNP, Gross National Product (or t… Continue

Generic windmill...

When I first started on my venture, my focus was to make a 'generic windmill'. What I mean by that is a ridiculously simple to manufacture, yet bulletproof strong design. There are enormous advantages to Phase 1 & Phase 2 designs such as ground level servicing. When, not if a generator fails(they all will) with these machines, it takes an hour to swap the generator and it's up again. If anyone has ever seen a traditional windmills' generator get swapped out (or main bearings), it is an enorm… Continue

How it works, why it works and a challenge...

After watching a program like Frontline this evening, I have a renewed spirit to present the case of why a new design of windmill MUST be found. Here's why:

1) 52% of all electricity in the US is produced from coal.
2) 9 1/2 TONS of coal is consumed by every household in America (average household, overall EVERY household).
3) There are 600 coal fired power plants in the US.

These are stats presented on Frontline this evening, so I am assuming they are factual. Here are some things I gleaned f… Continue

Modular windmill?

The exciting prospect of this design is it's flexibility...both with the height as well as the ground footprint. It is modular in height in 12ft increments from as small as 24ft (bottom box is enclosed generator room) and will soon be capable of up to 144ft (plus connection spacing) in height. The aileron system is the gold mine, as every 10ft of width increases the output of the rotor 300%!!!

It is in prototype stage and it is not exactly known yet how wide the ailerons can be before power inc… Continue

Invention without support...

Hello, my name is Adam, I am developing a very promising design of vertical windmill, there are pics on my page. The most incredible experience for me was to share this with EVERY SINGLE POLITICIAN in WI and IL with only the response of "Looks good young man, you keep it up"...literally. I delivered photos & diagrams with no response. I have dedicated my life and sanity to this project because I believe it has honest potential. The concepts are sound and based off this fact:

A 30ft diameter… Continue

Wow, sounds great. I would like to see it some day up close. Can't wait for the new video.

I loved the video and have posted it to my facebook and myspace pages telling all my friends what a good idea you have.

If ever you want to try out one of your turbines, I have property that might be very suited for this design. The huge typical wind power turbines will not fit I am afraid since I am located to close to a populated area. We do have 14+ acres bordering two major highways though.

Good luck on your idea. I am sure someone with the funding is out there.
Lisa
