Profile Information

Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Yes
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I have studied the opportunity for wind for years. The potentional for wind development in the US is huge with positive impact on the environment.
What excites you about this campaign?
I have always been a conservative republican. This issue is not partisan, but critical to both the future of our econcomy and the security of our nation.
What do you want to do to help?
I will do my best to spread the ideas you present. I also think it is important to offer other alternatvies. For instance, in the state of Vermont, we have very little distribution of LNG. New technologies in wood and solar need to be part of the total solution.

Allen,

I too have contacted Representative Welch about energy policy, with results like yours. My questions were to ask him to take a meeting with one of his House colleagues to discuss his proposed NEEDS legislation. I saw him present it on the floor of the House and was impressed. No reply, but I was tied into a state wide phone call about energy. There was a storm and I was cutoff after about two minutes, with no way to reenter the conversation. I did contact the other representative's offices, both in Washington and in his home district (5) in Pennsylvania. I did get some interesting information on how energy needs and supply breakdown. It's interesting information.

I would suggest just after the holidays we plan and schedule a face to face meeting with Peter and maybe our Senators as well. Not only to make the plan case but to listen to his concerns and what he's thinking about. I believe we'll need to ease him on board by making him see us, rather than email..... Just food for thought.

Allen,
That is a great email that you sent! I hope you get a response. Are you planning on attending a select board meeting?

Would it be okay with you if I post a copy of your email on our Vermont Leaders group blog? I think it's a good example of something all of us can do...write to our leaders.

I see you haven't joined our group yet! C'mon...we're all nice in there!

Thanks for writing! Let's keep in touch!

Here is an email I have sent the The Ludlow Select Board. We clearly need to education our local leaders here in VT. Maybe this is a place we could start.

"Gentlemen

I watched the Planning Commission on LPC TV last night. One topic of discussion was a land owner proposing a wind tower for personal energy generation. It was clear from the discussion that more education is needed by our leaders on the subject. The issue of energy, where it comes from, how much it costs, etc. is a serious dilemma facing us as Americans. One little burp in international affairs, such as a coupe in Saudi Arabia, and life in Ludlow as we know it will cease.

So, I am forwarding you an email with a link to a website that provides some interesting educational information. So, how does this plan relate to Ludlow? Look at the wind potential energy map and you will see that the eastern Appalachians could provide significant wind potential; We are in a hot spot for wind generation. It seems to me that the state of Vermont and our local communities should have a thought out strategy on energy development. All I have seen so far is folks talking about green alternative energy, until it is in their back yard. The Glebe Mountain wind project in Londonderry is my case in point.

Look forward to your thoughts."

Pamela

What we need is to get folks like Sam Lloyd that preach alternative energy to get off their NIMBY syndrome and live what they preach.

Hi Allen,

Scott Reynolds (Randolph, VT) and I are trying to bring Vermonters together to make a difference.

We have set up a Vermont Leaders group to organize the Vermont Pickens Plan members.
http://push.pickensplan.com/group/vermontleaders

(Please request an invitation)

We hope to get Ideas and help with projects from all Vermont members of Pickens Plan. Get help starting your own project, or help with an ongoing one, add your ideas, or pick up an idea you can work with.

I hope to see you there!

Hi Allen,
My name is Pam Donnelly, and I live in Springfield. I am interested in getting all of the Vermonters from this site (which there are only a handful) together either in person or virtually to organize something. I have zero experience in organizing, but I feel that we need to step up and try and create awareness of Boone's idea. What do you think?
Pam
