Hello and welcome. I trust we may have opportunity to share some ideas and thoughts regarding energy independence. Getting legislation mandating the use of energy produced by small businesses and home owners being sold to the city and county government in lieu of local taxes. Not bad for an off the wall idea!

educational advertising, not just internet. trying to plan a campaign now with a local KNOWN (tv) type for PSAs and credibility up front.....was your idea to build and film as we go? that has a lot of potential. big job. then get it
played, circulated, seen. SEEn as it were. i may be able to pull some filming contacts (must reactivate) together beyond a likely spokesperson/educator .... there are internet TV shows.... lots of places to put up video. check out vimeo. i need to be a better correspondent . keep intouch

sosolar (Amy),

The coming kids WILL appreciate SEE. I presented this concept to admittedly bright high school seniors a year ago and their comment was, "Its a 'No Brainer', why would anyone build another type of house?" Now they just need to convince their parents that when they build a new home, renovate an older home, or just want to save money that they should build/remodel to SEE standards. Any home being built/remodeled today that does not come up to SEE standards will soon be a "white elephant"!

All of my personal homes since 1979 have been SEE, although my standards have increased from what they were in 1979, but not much from what they were in 1981. Since 1979, I have been continually tweaking and finding easier ways to build/remodel SEE housing. I have developed many patentable techniques that are tremendously labor saving over the years.

Many of the homes that I have built for others over the years have been SEE and almost all of the ones that I built more recently were SEE. The concept is easy to understand and sell on a one to one basis, but it needs to be sold on a much larger scale to help our 1) energy situation, 2) environmental situation, and 3) short- & long-term economic situation.

I have built one (actually two) and tried to sell them on the general market, but unfortunately the average Mainer just doesn't get it. I have less knowledge about the rest of the country, but I really see little about SEE housing in the press. I also cannot get real estate appraisers to appraise the homes at more than $10,000.00 above comparable none SEE homes for a home that will save their owner $3,000. to $4,000.00 per year. Mainers would rather invest in a CD at 4% than in their home that would give them a 30% to 40% return on their investment. Maybe they think that energy prices are going to go down!

A documentary could work and I have begun some preliminary investigation of the concept and would be open to ideas from anyone - - including someone who might want such a home built.

Yes, we should just built them. The we that I am referring to is everyone. My book shows the many reasons that SEE homes make great sense for their owners on several levels from saving 1) money, 2) on energy use, 3) the environment, and 4) our economy. Since the energy savings that such homes provide covers their additional financial costs from day one, they actually cost less to own - - a "No Brainer?" When the average home owner/buyer realizes this, they will all want SEE housing.

Amy, I will get more information about the book to you privately. I look forward to working with you creatively to get the information "out there".

Thanks for your questions, encouragement, and interest in helping to get this information out.

Sincerely,
Thomas
