- I had looked into the economics behind developing a small wind farm in rural western North Carolina. Although the business plan did not make sense for a recently graduated college student, I am still quite interested in investing my time, effort and money into alternative energy
- What excites you about this campaign?
- I am excited that this is a citizen led effort to do what no elected official has been able to; plan and prepare for transitioning from a foreign oil based economy to something more nationally focused and sustainable. Picken's plan is a common sense bridge between where we are now to a energy independent and ultimately renewable future.
- What do you want to do to help?
- I would be quite happy to leverage my talent as an online organizer to further awareness and adoption of this plan.

America Continues to Waste over 70% of the Energy it Consumes.
100's of millions of lights unnecessarily burn during the day and night, over heating and over cooling is the norm, over packaging, inadequate recycling, toxic landfills, horrendous road congestion, and our perverted obsession with road construction. Public and Private buildings, Schools, Churches, Homes, ... America's blatant energy waste and overuse is culturally pervasive, and abominable !
1- ONLY with a substantial and tangible economic reward/consequence will most Americans care to conserve.
Crude oil must be taxed at $200 per barrel and offset by making income tax begin at $60k.
Taxing energy is simple, fair, economically sound, and available TODAY.
2- The American auto industry must quickly transition to the 6.4 BILLION people reason$ to manufacture solar, wind, and other alternative energy producers. They already have the needed infrastructure. Every home and building in the world, could be using solar energy. We are fast running out of fossil fuels !
Humanity is racing toward extinction, via global warming, for our failure to stop our energy waste.
Taxing energy (in lieu of income taxes) is the ONLY incentive that will stop energy waste and cause renewable energy sources to be employed.

I have found that petitions are the best way to spread the word AND sign up supporters.
Here is HOW TO TURN THE PLEDGE INTO A PETITION!
I find it easiest to take one pledge, cut off Boone's lines under the pledge and add a sheet of lined paper under the pledge instead. I put NAME - ADDRESS - EMAIL across the top and fill in the first line to set the format. Most are more willing to sign where others have already done so, rather than the single pledge at a time approach. Everyone understands a petition.
I ask if they would "sign this petition in support of T, Boone Pickens energy plan to get us off of foreign oil?" Hand them the clipboard so they can read it. I do not require the signers to give me their email if they are reticent - don't let that be a deal breaker - some just do not want to give it.
Check out the 100CLUB group page to see how others have accomplished the task. (it is the first goup on my page) When you send/fax in 100, let me know, we will gladlyinvite you to be a member of the 100CLUB. Your leadership on this will inspire thousands!
There are over 150 people in the pledge challenge that I know of right now. Surely, there are many more that I am unaware of, as it is in many greetings. Those 150 willl bring 15,000 new members. If each brings just 5 friends, these 150 will be responsible for 75,000 new members.
This is the approach that works best for me - I tried many. Hopefully, this will encourage you to take the challenge, too. CAN YOU HELP?
