- I came from Brazil and since 1980s Brazil has been using ethanol to fuel the cars. It works. Ethanol is produced from sugarcane and the byproducts is used as fertilizer. The technology is there and we solved the engine problems from burning ethanol. Also pure ethanol is added to the gasoline. It has the benefit of increasing the octane. The problem in US is that we use corn to make ethanol. Corn is a major food source.

- Finally someone is proposing a solution for oil dependency
