Very important…
I C E - IN CASE OF EMERGENCY
Apparently this is a standard procedure all paramedics follow at the scene of an accident when they come across your cell phone.
ICE - "In Case of Emergency"
We all carry our mobile phones with names & n umbers stored in its memory but nobody, other than ourselves, knows which of these numbers belong to our closest family or friends.
If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn't know who to call. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency? Hence this "ICE" (In Case of Emergency) Campaign
The concept of "ICE" is catching on quickly. It is a method of contact during emergency situations. As cell (mobile) phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of a contact person or persons who should be contacted during emergency under the name "ICE" ( In Case Of Emergency).
The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with patients, but they didn't know which number to call. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this purpose. In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital staff would be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialing the number you have stored as "IC E."
For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc. A great idea that will make a difference!
Let's spread the concept of ICE by storing an ICE number in our Mobile phones today!
Please forward this. It won't take too many "forwards" before everybody will know about this. It really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest. ICE will speak for you when you are not able to.

PS. REASON FOR TAKING ACTION NOW:

IF WE WAIT FOR THE NEXT OPPORTUNITY TO ADDRESS THESE CHALLENGES, it will likely be far too late, as America will be far too indebted to foreign countries to make the necessary investment to transition to new energy sources. Our chance is now. Seize the moment!

HERE IS THE BEST REASON I KNOW TO GO DOWNLOAD A FEW PLEDGES, get them signed and fax them back, today! HOW ELSE DO WE BUILD OUR NUMBERS TO FIGHT THIS KIND OF THINKG.

THE OIL COMPANIES ARE LOBBYING TO KILL THIS BILL
Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation Tax Act of 2008
To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide tax incentives for the production of renewable energy and energy conservation.
http://www.opencongress.org/bill/110-h5351/show

OPEN CONGRESS SUMMARY:
This bill would repeal roughly $18 billion in manufacturing tax credits for oil and gas companies while extending and increasing tax credits for a wide range of renewable energy programs. It is expected to cause a contentious debate in the Senate, where its chances of being approved are uncertain.

THE OIL COMPANIES made record profits while gasoline prices were the highest ever, they don’t need more of our money.

"In the News"

Michael Goodwin of the New York Daily News wrote a wrap-up of the Democratic and Republican National Conventions. In it he mentions a certain man with a certain plan...

Is there any good news? Yes, I found general agreement on 1-1/2 things. The half agreement is that, while they have wildly different views on Iraq, Obama and McCain are committed to defeating the resurgent Taliban in Afghanistan. This is real progress on a key security issue.

The one major area where I found a near total consensus is that we’ve got to dramatically reduce our dependence on foreign oil. Obama and McCain sound like T. Boone Pickens, who calculates we’re shipping about $700 billion a year to other countries to feed our addiction. They promise their own version of the Manhattan Project to radically change our energy policies, which have huge implications for our economy, security and environment.

Of course, even this consensus comes with differences. McCain, like Pickens, believes we should drill for more oil offshore, while Obama doesn’t. And McCain is more bullish on nuclear power than Obama.

But those differences are about the details of how we solve the problem rather than whether we have a problem, so energy policy would be a great place to start the new administration in January. Imagine it: The next President pledges to enlist the best people in America, no matter what party they belong to, to solve the crisis. The unified approach might begin a revolution as people start believing they can actually make a difference in other areas as well, instead of just taking sides."

Amen!

'Major Discovery' Primed To Unleash Solar Revolution: Scientists Mimic Essence Of Plants' Energy Storage System

________________________________________
Until now, solar power has been a daytime-only energy source, because storing extra solar energy for later use is prohibitively expensive and grossly inefficient. With today's announcement, MIT researchers have hit upon a simple, inexpensive, highly efficient process for storing solar energy.

About the MIT paper - "Artificial Photosynthesis"
"Artificial Photosynthesis" I just love that phrase ... Because once again nature has pointed the way . Like the invention of say Velcro . ( The guy had a cockle burr stuck on is sock, and wondered how the burr did it. )

When the news broke two days ago about this new discovery , and make no mistake it's very new. Most of the folks who paid a little attention in high school chemistry class, seemed to see this as just a small step . It's not, it's a game changer. And here's why. They solved the problem of the oxygen .
From Science Magazine :

In natural photosynthesis, plants take energy from the Sun and store it in the chemical bonds of glucose that the plant can metabolize later. In artificial photosynthesis, one goal has been to store the Sun's energy by splitting water molecules -- thereby rearranging water's chemical bonds into hydrogen and oxygen gases for later use in electricity-producing fuel cells. Scientists have known for a long time how to get hydrogen gas from water with catalysts such as platinum. But the problem has been how to get oxygen out of the water, too, in an efficient, inexpensive, and highly manufacturable way. Now, in a paper published online by Science, Daniel Nocera and Matthew Kanan describe such
an abundant source -- a catalyst that makes oxygen from water -- providing the missing step needed to produce electricity through artificial photosynthesis in a closed system.

Konarka's list of international corporate partners is as impressive as it's nanosolar technology with 280 patents.

The Konarka nanosolar technology is NOT 3rd generation silicon based solar cell technology, which converts ONLY infared photon light wavelengths, has only a 15% to 17% photon energy conversion efficiency and a manufacturing cost of $3.25 to $5.85 per watt.

Konarka Nanosolar cell panels are printed on flex-plastic ( up to 10 mils thick ), converts the ENTIRE spectrum of photon light wavelengths, has an 80% photon energy conversion efficiency and a mass production manufacturing cost of approximately $0.10 per watt.

A typical three bedroom home using 3rd generation silicon based solar cell technology, would require a minimum 3 kWp system and cost about $17,000. A Konarka Nanosolar system of the same size would only run $300. (Affordable for everyone).

I hope you will check it out: Konarka Nanosolar Technologies:

HI BRUCE!

It has been a while since we kept in touch last!

We are now over 1.2 million suporters. We will need many more if we are to beat back the damn lobbyists and special interests. Can you help with the pledges? Every American needs to sign on. With pledges we can fan out and reach so many. It is an easy ask- Boone has done the hard work. I was able to get 300 signed in the first 4 days - everyone wants to to get off of foreign oil. We may never have a golden opportunity like this again!
ARE YOU IN?

Best

If both questions have a "Yes" for an answer then your our perfect member!

The action committee is very simmilar to www.action.pickensplan.com however our job is to do that in a much larger scale! An action committee member will have responsibilities that include: scheduling a conference with their senators/congressman, talking to major companies on switching to natural gas vehicles, and even talking to families about becoming 'green' and signing the petition.

If everything above sounds appealing to you, why wait? Join the Action Committee now!

Very interesting reading, will check out your videos too. Portugal has a chance of becoming the champ of Europe in renewable energy... Millions are being set aside by the state, but also controlled and built by at large stately owned companies or the ones with good connections. I will keep reading your input, i want to start small with projects that can benefit the environment as well as the skinny wallets of most inhabitants.... Please pass on ideas:-)
