- I read "The Coming Economic Collapse: How to Thrive When Oil Reaches $200 a Barrel" about two years ago when I was a financial advisor. Wow! Anyone who does not believe in Peak Oil should read it. Since then I have done lots of other research and am now part of an education effort (I teach at OSU/OKC) to inform people and have my own solar and wind company that sells to residents and businesses:

- What excites you about this campaign?
- Becoming free from our dependence on foreign oil (and informing people that we are funding terrorism every time we fill up our gas tanks--read "Hot Flat and Crowded" by Thomas Friedman--an excellent book!), owning my own electricity (as opposed to renting it from the utility company), reducing my carbon footprint, and yes, financial independence.
- What do you want to do to help?
- Inform, educate, motivate, provide a (free, no obligation) energy analysis for anyone who is interested.

This year I have helped so many members learn about personal home energy plans. It's all about power use, conservation, and home power generation, things I have been doing at my residence to lower my energy costs. Send me a friend request a to add me Beth, I'd be honored to have you as a friend here.
BTW, oklahoma: I just posted an article about Home Wind Systems in oklahoma. Your state's representatives, governor, and public utility commission officials are not in your corner with this "soft policy" on Net Metering. Instead they have the tables turned against green power for businesses and homeowners. You should read that article, important.

After you've had a chance to settle in, please let me know if there's anything I can do to help. The basic first steps are reviewing the current topics in the Forum, and inviting others to the website when you're comfortable. The people here want to do something to foster energy independence and those you invite will find that joining us is the right thing to do.
Here are further steps you might consider, some of which you may have already taken.
- Sign up to lead or volunteer on the Local District page.
- Visit your My Energy page and get involved.
- Get involved with others in your City or State.
- Find and connect with a like-minded Group.
- Start or join a Campus/Alumni group at PickensU.
- Work your contacts to increase press coverage.
- Write to congressional representatives directly.
- Use Pickens Action buttons or call (202) 225-3121.
- Speak out for ending our dependence on foreign oil.
- Write letters to the editor of your local paper.
- Download flyers/etc from here or here.
- Download the Petition and ask others to sign it.
- Start a company to build wind turbines/solar panels.
- Start a financing firm to invest in those companies.
- Tell everyone you know about PickensPlan.com.
Decide for yourself what you can do, but definitely do something.

PICKENS U We are recruiting "Campus Coordinators" for colleges and universities to represent the Pickens Plan on campus. We are looking for someone who can create a college page on the Pickens Plan site and also on Facebook encouraging folks to sign up for the Pickens Plan.
