Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Yes
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I built a solar water heater with my late husband at Del Mar College West Campus as a member of the Coastal Bend Solar Energy Society about 1980 or 1981. Wind power was becoming popular for home energy production in Corpus Christi about the same time.
What excites you about this campaign?
I love alternative energy and am happy to be in a state that has been long known as a top oil- and natural gas-producing state but has now gained new energy acclaim by becoming the nation's top producer of wind energy. Driving west of Abiline on my way to the 2008 GREEN Real Estate Conference in Denver was a site for sore eyes- wind turbines everywhere...
What do you want to do to help?
Educate people about retrofitting their homes and or building green.

Just Sold: Lean, Mean GREEN Home in Leander

I am closing this week on a green home of sustainable design here in Apple Springs subdivision near Leander, Texas, just outside Austin, Texas. The home was designed by Austin Architect Peter Pfeiffer and is made of ICF's, Insulated Concrete Forms. These ICF's are made of 85% recycled polystyrene and concrete. The home was site specific, meaning it was designed for the best orientation on the acreage site it was built- south facing, at the best angle to capture the prevailing breezes, and so… Continue

Existing Homeowners: Get Started Retrofitting- I'll be Glad to Help

Existing homeowners, we can use less energy and resources like water in our homes by "retrofitting" them. I am an EcoBroker and I'll be happy to help. Weatherstripping, caulking, foam seal gaskets for outlets, radiant barriers, spraying in foam insulation, etc. Landscaping for energy efficiency. Rain barrels. I know people who are importing Wind Turbines from China to Austin for home use... If you are building or planning to build- PLEASE build green and sustainable. I have builders and… Continue

Thought you might be interested in the Idaho National Laboratory facebook site. We do a lot of energy research including wind, nuclear, solar, natural gas, etc. http://www.facebook.com/idahonationallaboratory

Happy New Year Betty,
Last year I helped so many members of Pickens Plan learn about personal home energy plans. It's all about conservation of power, and home power generation, things I have been doing at my residence to lower my electricity costs. Send me a friend request a to add me Betty, I'd be honored to have you as a friend here.

BTW, Texas: I just posted an article link on my pickens page about Home Wind Systems in Texas. Your state's representatives, governor, and public utility commission officials are not in your corner with this "weak policy" on Net Metering. Instead they have the tables turned against green power for businesses and homeowners. Texas has created multiple sets of rules for loopholes and you have less rights than people in other states. You should read that article, important.

Welcome and THANK YOU for joining Pickens Plan. Here is how you can help.

EMAIL A LETTER TO YOUR REPRESENTATIVES BY USING OUR EASY RED "CONTACT CONGRESS" BUTTON - - With little effort, we have the ability here for you to send a letter to our Representatives in Washington and Governor, too.

Go to THE PLEDGE (at the very top of this page on the blue header) On the top of the pledge page there are three rectangular buttons- two blue ones and ONE RED BUTTON, that reads "CONTACT CONGRESS" . Fill in the short, standard form. Done!

YOU CAN ALSO HELP BY BRINGING 5 FOLKS TO JOIN the site today, so that we can build a voice big enough that Congress will finally have to listen to us, instead of the lobbyists and special interests, who are trying to derail this historic effort.

YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THE PLEDGE on the Main page. Print out 10 or more of them, get them signed and fax them back to Boone ASAP. This is how we build our numbers fast! Be a leader, be a part of the "100 CLUB", by faxing in 100 signed pledges. Let me know when you are done and I will see that you are added to the list.

If you answered "YES" to interested in becoming an organizer, there are several things I can recommend. Join the following Groups:
Organizers & Leaders
OnLine Action Army
Guides & Materials for New Members

On the upper right corner of Your Page, click on "States" to visit the Push Pickens Community for your state.

Contact and "Friend" the New Energy Army Regional Leader for your state. You can find them to the right, in the Featured Memberssection. Let him/her know that I sent you there and you are interested in becoming an organizer.

THERE IS NO TIME TO DELAY
…to wait and see…or to see if someone else will step up to the plate. It is time for US to roll up our sleeves and go to work. Right now momentum is working in our favor, but if gas prices retreat, the public will forget the pain, and our moment may be lost.

PICKENS U has been formed for college alumni and university students to get involved. If you are or know of a student who would like to become an ambassador to help coordinate the pledge drive, please submit names to Pickens U site (found on the Main page). This would look good on a job resume.

PERSONAL ACTION OPTIONS We need to do more than “preach to the choir”. Sharing ideas with each other is encouraging but that will not
1) increase our membership nor
2) influence public policy.
If you know someone in the press or someone who blogs - get them to cover this. Ask those in the public eye to support this plan.

A GROUP FOR EVERYONE.
Join the Guides and Materials for New Members Group. Lot's of good information there.
Check out the many groups for Solar, CNG, your area, etc. Connect, learn and share. We grow stronger with your input. If you don't see a group that speaks to your interest, then start a group of your own.

IDEAS & PROPOSALS FOR PICKENS
I know that many of you have great ideas and proposals that you would like to get in front of Boone's team...
They asked us to have you submit all ideas/proposals in writing to the Pickens Plan at: PO Box 12123 Dallas TX 75225.

PLEASE FRIEND ME so we can keep in touch. If there is any way I can help, please, let me know. If I don't have the answer, I will do my very best to get you the answer.

Thanks again for joining this historical effort. WE CAN DO THIS .
