Maybe--But Not Sure What to Organize
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I don't have experience with anything but my husband and I have talked about wind on our hillside that gets daybreezes, buying a hybrid next car, putting company cars on natural gas (putting our own compressor in at the house in Kenai) and the latest solar vacuum tubes to run our in-floor heat that my husband saw at the Green Build conference in Louisiana this year. There's SO many things people can do, but not everyone knows about them.
What excites you about this campaign?
That SOMEONE is doing something - who has financial resources to do something! Unfortunately, you're the beta tester / demand economy so that production of these things will come down in cost for the rest of us and we can reap benefits individually as well.
What do you want to do to help?
Alaska has these phenomenal winds and tides that aren't being developed and Governor Palin wants to just hand out money to our state's residents so our energy costs aren't so outrageous. Just make my check out to Conoco Phillips because it's only helping big oil. My husband and I feel it could be better spent by getting off coal from Healy, putting it into developing renewable resources which Alaska has so much of, instead of throwing a one time fix of money at us to pay our home heating bills. I wouldn't know where to start except writing Palin. Hmm. I just may do that!
