Great Causes bring out great people. As a 25-year veteran in Power Generation & Energy Development, let me thank you for getting involved and extend an offer to provide insight and assistance in your local effort. This is a very doable plan and it starts with people like you in making it a success. The key to the plans success will be communicating to the masses. We need to communicate reality not dreams for unfortunately the American public has a very short attention span and most are living day to day. The Pickens Plan as it stands right now is at the 50,000 ft level. We need to develop a more detailed comprehensive national execution plan for the next five years. The first section should incorporate conservation and placing public pressure on elected officials at all levels of government to engage and approve a national plan while in parallel we are designing, constructing and installing the new infrastructure systems. Once we have the grass roots base involved at this level, we can then continue to communicate the next steps of the plan to them to help bring us to the Energy Independence we are looking to accomplish
Happy New Year Blair,
Last year I helped so many members of Pickens Plan learn about personal home energy plans. It's all about conservation of power, and home power generation, things I have been doing at my residence to lower my electricity costs. Send me a friend request a to add me Blair, I'd be honored to have you as a friend here.
BTW, Texas: I just posted an article link on my pickens page about Home Wind Systems in Texas. Your state's representatives, governor, and public utility commission officials are not in your corner with this "weak policy" on Net Metering. Instead they have the tables turned against green power for businesses and homeowners. Texas has created multiple sets of rules for loopholes and you have less rights than people in other states. You should read that article, important.
Mr. Merriam: As a fellow Pickens Plan supporter and an individual investor, I
commend you for demonstrating terrific leadership as the President/CEO of Platina Energy. Not only is Plantina making incredible progress and doing it the "right way" -- you personally embrace the Pickens Plan. That's critical!
Congratulations on Platina's most recent achievements. "Smart" technologies combined with superior leadership/workers make the world better.
Keep up the great work!
Ray
Great to meet you, Mr. Merriam! You have a great business model. Let's stay in touch.

That project is under Granite Inc, owned by GE , and should already be in the commissioning stage as far as I know. I believe that the turbines are already on site, though I don't know exactly where in Glen Rock they are going up....
Thank you for joining! Where do we start? For a wealth of information, we can look to Europe as our model for developing sustainable renewable energy. Countries like Denmark and Germany lead the way in this effort and have been there for the past 10-20 years - even more. Germany’s commitment through cooperatives and local municipalities has installed 19,000+ wind turbines and millions of solar collectors, both for solar hot water and electricity. The solar initiative is overwhelming with solar panels installed on homes, churches, schools, businesses and barns. Wind turbines in Germany are everywhere you drive, over each crest in a hill. (Please look at my page for photos).
The onshore and offshore installation of wind turbines in Denmark is producing 20% of all their electrical needs. And, many more are planned for the future with a goal in mind of producing 50% of Denmark’s electrical needs. Denmark is the leading exporter of wind turbines. I mention these examples to give us a direction for inspiration and point to where we could be heading with the Pickens Plan. The technology is already there and we do not have to reinvent the wheel. These are a few of the websites I would suggest you visit to see what other have done and are doing:
1) 1) The Solar Village – Freiburg, Germany. See: http://www.thesolarvillage.com/
2) The Folkecenter for Renewable Energy – Denmark.
See: http://www.folkecenter.net/gb/overview/publications/
Under VARIOUS, read: The transition from Fossil Fuels to the Renewable Energies
The whole website is excellent and you could spend hours there.
3) Google: Samso, Denmark. This is an island off the coast of Denmark that is completely self-sustaining. http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2008/07/07/080707fa_fact_kolbert
4) Read the article written by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. titled: “Global Warming: A Real Solution”
There are a few videos that I would also recommend these are: “Saved by the Sun” a PBS NOVA video, and “A Crude Awakening” by Basil Gemlpke, et al. Americans need to mobilize and pressure our government representatives both on the state and national level. The Pickens Plan is a good place to foster discussion and share ideas and PUSH this plan! We can all share in this vital common cause together. Good luck in your quest for a better and more secure America…….. Lee
