- I've been an environmental activist for over 30 years. Working in residential and commercial finance, we've handled alternative energy projects.
DEMAND REDUCTION is the BEST way to start with - yielding IMMEDIATE effects. Our buildings leak like sieves. Tightening up the building envelope while attending to air quality is cost effective. Replacing traditional HVAC with ground source heat pumps in comination with tightening building envelopes can yield savings in excess of 60%. When one adds photo-voltaic panels and the new wind turbine technology that produces electricity at wind speeds as slow as 4 MPH, it's possible for buildings to get entirely "off the grid".
I organized Earth Day in Boston in 1982 - 1984 and consulted to IL Gov. Rod Blagojevich's Illinois Commerce Commission's Sustainable Energy Plan.

- When some old fart oil tycoon recognizes our country (and the world) has this problem and puts a high level of energy into fixing it, well, the cause of the problem has now taken on being a solution!
Simply put, the obstacle has become an ally!

That is not me Mike Anthony GC I don't have a website, but that is what I do ( Home Renovations ) No Cleaning.
I am looking to convert my home, but I do not have the means to do so, What I would like to see is one of these big renewable energy outfits use My house as a Show Model for Other residents in my State to see. We need examples for people to go by in order to get people to Change. We need a funding program with Incentives, If the Feds could give out the 2% loans to Tax paying Citizens instead of Bailing out the institutions that got us in the mess to begin with we would be able to recover much Quicker.
Maybe you can help me promote this Idea. or tell me what is worng with it ?

I live in an apartment (so solar panels and a tankless waterheater are out) and I dont have the money for a more efficient car (at the moment) but I believe there are things I can do.
Little things to use less energy, (and therefore less oil) and lower our electric bills, increase our gas mileage, and live a little bit healthier.
I put up a blog entry on the subject... if you have a minute, check it out and let me know what you think... all good ideas/suggestions are welcome.
