- What excites you about this campaign?
- Because I hope it will force the presidential candidates to make our dependence on foreign oil a campaign issue. I have been very disappointed - but not completely surprised - that neither candidate (or party) has done so. Being a 20-year Army Veteran (Lieutenant Colonel) including a tour in Iraq and now at the Pentagon, I think I have a little insight into national security. I feel strongly that from the very beginning the strategy for executing the Global War on Terrorism should have included getting the country off of foreign oil. That would have punished and marginalized the countries that raise and shelter terrorists in a fundamental way without putting one soldier at risk. For all the money we are spending in Iraq, we could have developed the next generation of energy sources, retrofitted the delivery infrastructure and had money left over. Kennedy issued a Presidential Mandate that enabled the U.S. to put a man on the moon by energizing and focusing the country’s resources. Surely the current (or next) President can do the same on this issue.
The irony is that this should be an issue that both political sides can agree on: the left, so we can reduce/eliminate pollution (and they hate the big, evil oil companies) and the right from an economic and national security standpoint. This issue is wide open for any politician to leverage to their advantage and not one of them is doing it. What a colossal lack of vision. Natural gas, ethanol, wind, solar, Alaska drilling – I don’t care how we do it. Just get us off of foreign oil!!

I'm happy to discuss my generator (StarGen) anytime. Right now, I'm all over Virginia - Northeast to Southwest, making contacts and showing the StarGen. At some point soon, I should also have StarGenCo.com updated with information (and a buy link :-)
Feel free to contact me offline, by checking out that website. I'm glad to share, but SEC and USPTO regulations prevent me from saying much in an open forum...

Paul (Pete) High said… - Brent, welcome to our 11th District page. T. Boone Pickens met with both John McCain and Barack Obama and briefed them on the path for energy independance. President Obama and his transition has been well briefed and the Simulus Plan passed by the House contains a great deal of support for the Pickens Plan. We're definately not home free but T. Boone and his Army have been responsible for gaining tremendous leverage towards gaining our independence from foreign oil. As Ed Matricardi. our regional director, posted on our 11th district page, call, write and email Senators James Webb and Mark Warner asking for their support as indicated in the discussion on our 11th district page.

Boone Pickens and his efforts to send our government a clear (heard) message that we must reduce our nation’s dependence on foreign oil through the use of all domestic energy alternatives. Well as they say (the large lady voiced the end). Neither candidate openly gave his support outright for our plan. Both knew about it and to a degree felt the intense support behind it. It goes back to another old saying, on the political platform be careful how far you put your foot in the door.
There is a group for almost everything. The Forums/discussions on this site are many and you’ll probably find something that interests or concerns you. Some are very long and were started months ago. For the ones that concern you, Please keep in mind, events are remembered and relayed differently by those commenting, which as we all too well know equals at least three sides to the event.
