Hi Brian

I have found that petitons are the best way to spread the word AND sign up supporters.

Here is HOW TO TURN THE PLEDGE INTO A PETITION!

I find it easiest to take one pledge, cut off Boone's lines under the pledge and add a sheet of lined paper under the pledge instead. I put NAME - ADDRESS - EMAIL across the top and fill in the first line to set the format. Most are more willing to sign where others have already done so, rather than the single pledge at a time approach. Everyone understands a petition.
I ask if they would "sign this petition in support of T, Boone Pickens energy plan to get us off of foreign oil?" Hand them the clipboard so they can read it. I do not require the signers to give me their email if they are reticent - don't let that be a deal breaker - some just do not want to give it.

Check out the 100CLUB group page to see how others have accomplished the task. (it is the first goup on my page) When you send/fax in 100, let me know, we will gladlyinvite you to be a member of the 100CLUB. Your leadership on this will inspire thousands!

There are over 150 people in the pledge challenge that I know of right now. Surely, there are many more that I am unaware of, as it is in many greetings. Those 150 willl bring 15,000 new members. If each brings just 5 friends, these 150 will be responsible for 75,000 new members.

This is the approach that works best for me - I tried many. Hopefully, this will encourage you to take the challenge, too. CAN YOU HELP?

When will we ever have a golden opportunity like this again?

BEST
Kim

Hi Brian,
Please let me know how I can help. Is Mayfield just south of Carbondale? That's not too far to attend meetings. As you may have guessed, gas is a major issue for me. I'm currently unemployed. That's why I have time to volunteer.
I feel such passion for new sources of energy. I have been experiencing this issue since the 70's, but no politician ever does anything about it. So, maybe we have to take it to the politicians. I'm so glad TB Pickens is heading up the initiative. I wish he was running for president!
Let me know about your next meeting.

Brian,
I noticed that you are into reducing the energy schools use with the Pocono Northeast Resource, Conservation, and Development Council. I have a couple of ideas that may prove useful in this effort that I thought would work well in institutional settings.

Drainwater heat exchanger. This device recovers heat from the drainwater and uses it to warm the water going into the water heater. It requires no maintanence, has no moving parts and uses no energy in it's operation. It jsut sits there and recovers heat that would normally go down the drain. It reduced the amount of energy I use to heat water by 1/3. That's got to be alot in a school setting.
http://home.comcast.net/~bigvid/mydhe.html

Solar air heater. Creating heat is the easiest thing to do with solar energy and can be as much as 80% efficient. This device gives you heat gain during the day without having heat loss at night for an overall total gain. There are commercially available versions that can be purchased so you don't have to build your own.
http://home.comcast.net/~bigvid/solarbox.html

Micro CHP (Combined Heat and Power). These are being deployed in New England. This is basically a grid tied 1.2KW generator driven by a water cooled natural gas/propane internal combustion engine. It is installed inside the building and the cooling water is heat exchanged into the building heat system. This provides a steady 28000BTU and also 1.2KW of electricity 24/7 thus aiding in heating and power usage. Even the exhaust heat is scavaged and the system is supposed to be more than 90% efficient. When this is not enough heat by itself an auxilliary heating unit kicks in to provide the required additional heat. I think there are larger industrial units available. I am going to work on a diesel version so I can burn biodiesel in it. I am in contact with others that already do this. You could use the heating fuel you already have delivered.

Just some ideas to think about.
You can email me at the address on my website if you wish more information.
If you are not the person directly involved in this please forward this along to whoever is.
Thanks,
Brian

Please congratulate Dianna Brown, she is joining the 100CLUB today- for those that fax/send in more that 100 signed pledges! In addition to her pledge push success, she drives the Welcome Wagon often, providing a steady and passionate hand in sharing our goals to new members.
She is a Picken's Hero!

Best to you,

Brian,

Welcome and THANK YOU for joining Pickens Plan. Here is how you can help.

EMAIL A LETTER TO YOUR REPRESENTATIVES BY USING OUR EASY RED "CONTACT CONGRESS" BUTTON -This is urgent, because the Energy Bill in Congress is in danger of not passing! With little effort, we have the ability here for you to send a letter to our Representatives in Washington and Governor, too. Go to THE PLEDGE (at the very top of this page on the blue header) On the top of the pledge page there are three rectangular buttons- two blue ones and ONE RED BUTTON, that reads "CONTACT CONGRESS" . Fill in the short, standard form. Done!

YOU CAN ALSO HELP BY BRINGING 5 FOLKS TO JOIN the site today, so that we can build a voice big enough that Congress will finally have to listen to us, instead of the lobbyists and special interests, who are trying to derail this historic effort.

YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THE PLEDGE on the main page. Print out 10 or more of them, get them signed and fax them back to Boone ASAP. This is how we build our numbers fast! Be a leader, be a part of the "100 CLUB", by faxing in 100 signed pledges. Let me know when you are done and I will add you to the list.

THERE IS NO TIME TO DELAY
…to wait and see…or to see if someone else will step up to the plate. It is time for US to roll up our sleeves and go to work. Right now momentum is working in our favor, but if gas prices retreat, the public will forget the pain, and our moment may be lost.

FOR MORE INFORMATION
Check out Pickens "August Call to Action"- for a course of action! Here is an informative video "Topeka, Kansas Town Hall Meeting": http://www.pickensplan.com/news/2008/08/04/video-of-the-topeka-town...

PERSONAL ACTION OPTIONSWe need to do more than “preach to the choir”. Sharing ideas with each other is encouraging but that will not 1) increase our membership nor 2) influence public policy. If you know someone in the press or someone who blogs - get them to cover this. Ask those in the public eye to support this plan.

A GROUP FOR EVERYONE. Join the Guides and Materials for New Members Group. Lot's of good information there.
Check out the many groups for Solar, CNG, your area, etc. Connect, learn and share. We grow stronger with your input. If you don't see a group that speaks to your interest, then start a group of your own.

PLEASE FRIEND ME so we can keep in touch.

Thanks again for joining this historical effort. WE CAN DO THIS .
