AB 560 needs to pass:
Assembly Bill 560 would increase the cap on "net metering," which gives solar customers credit on their electric bill for surplus power they transfer to the utility. Currently, a utility is not obligated to sign net-metering ...

Last year I helped so many members of Pickens Plan learn about personal home energy plans. It's all about conservation of power, and home power generation, things I have been doing at my residence to lower my electricity costs. BTW, Texas: I just posted an article link on my pickens page about Home Wind Systems in Texas. Your state's representatives, governor, and public utility commission officials are not in your corner with this "weak policy" on Net Metering. Instead they have the tables turned against green power for businesses and homeowners. Texas has created multiple sets of rules for loopholes and you have less rights than people in other states. You should read that article, important.

We did take the plunge and installed solar panels this month. I was worried about the cost but after more research I could kick myself for not installing earlier. My monthly home improvement payment is smaller that my monthly electric bill. We recieved a $17,400 rebate from the electric company which is part of a Federal incentive plan. We recieve a one time $2,000 tax credit on 08 taxes. The loan is tax deductable. You can ask for substantially more when you sell your home. The county will not increase my property taxes. You won't need to pay capital gaines on the solar panel portion of home sale, but pocket it tax exempt. Best thing yet, you get back every penny when you sell your home. Oh ya, It feels great being self suffient and doing your part in removing that small bit money from America hating OPEC nations. My energy will increase 7-10% per year, doubling my bill in 10 years. The rebate keeps going down (%)each year until it runs out.
Go for it, you'll be so glad you did it.

I just enjoy learning, Always have. I to dont trust many of the same people you mentioned, everyone always have there motives and 9 times out of 10 its money. So I will continue to research and study on many topics and hopfully it will at the very least make me a better person because of it. - Bruce; thank you for clearing that up for me. I left your comment posted for anyone lse to read. I also went to youtube to review more vidieos and did some checking on the computer and found some people claim the have kits to install in your gas powerd viehecle. Quite frankly some look dangerous to me.There is one guy that says his buggie runs strickly on water, he was killed. You may have heard of him Stan Meyers. I dont wish to get into a debate about this. I`m just sharing information and everyone makes there own oppinion.I posted some videos on the subject . Check them out if you wish. Thanks.

- I was responsible for developing annual electricity supply projections for Exxon as part of their long range planning efforts. I got to investigate solar, wind, nuclear, combined-cycle gas, etc. as part of this job.
I have continued to read about solar and wind and am considering solar panels for my home.
- What excites you about this campaign?
- It seems obvious that alternative sources of energy are needed as part of our energy mix. Our politicians don't seem to want to do what is best for the country, but what is best for themselves and their major contributors. Why else would there be such a big subsidy for ethanol?

Be careful how you analyze the time to payoff residential PV solar investments.
Since solar panels generate no electricity at night, not much when it is cloudy and less in the winter than in the summer due to the sun angle, it is risky to assume you can eliminate your entire monthly electricity bill. To actually provide all of your electricity, you will need a backup battery system. Although PV systems are somewhat expensive, battery backup systems are very expensive.
