- In college, co-founded the HEV (hybrid electric vehicle) Team at Cal Poly, Pomona in 1992-93. Assisted with the CAPSET Solar Team. I shared a Senior Project on PEM Fuel Cell applications as relating to vehicle development. Over the last 15 years, I have worked in various capacities for the aerospace industry on leading edge technologies.
- What excites you about this campaign?
- That someone (Mr. Pickens) is brave and smart enough to realize that oil is not the answer to break us free from our current energy dependence mode. I believe The Pickens Plan is boldly progressive and I am both proud and honored to endorse it in whatever capacity possible.
- What do you want to do to help?
- Anything needed from a technical, analytical, and political perspective. I would certainly welcome and appreciate anyone and everyone passing along the following statement, particularly to the mainstream media.
"Bruce D. Bongardt is The Proud American candidate, hence the name for his new independent political banner, 'THE PROUDICAN PARTY'. He is a 42 year old Mechanical Design Engineer from the middle-class who recently decided to start-up his own engineering consultant business, BDB Industries, LLC, after 15 years in the aerospace and related industries. He has never held a political office. But, he firmly endorses the Pickens Plan which is more about getting the 'right' energy solutions in place for the American public through real and positive action rather than just delivering campaign speeches of wishful rhetoric, or soliciting for donations and votes through self-promotion. His campaign is a 'virtual' one although he filed a Statement of Candidacy with the FEC on 4/26/2008 and is technically a Presidential candidate along with 450 or so lesser known individuals. He is currently NOT petitioning to get his name placed on any State ballots ... at least not yet. However as a legitimate problem-solving engineer, he has developed on his own a boldly progressive series of "outside-the-box" prolutions (progressive solutions), particularly in terms of supplemental energy initiatives to the Pickens Plan. He believes that if these prolutions were given the proper light, the general public, and possibly the leading nominees from the major parties, might choose to support them. Over the next 100 days, he would like to be referred to as America's 'None of the Above' nominee for this November's Presidential election. Mr. Bongardt’s campaign is neither paid for nor directly endorsed by The Pickens Plan."
