Great Causes bring out great people such as yourself. As a 25-year veteran in Power Generation & Energy Development, let me thank you for getting involved and extend an offer to provide insight and assistance in your local efforts. This is a very do-able plan and it starts with people like you in making it a success. The key to the plans success will be communicating to the masses. We need to communicate reality not dreams for unfortunately the American public has a very short attention span and most are living day to day. The Pickens Plan as it stands right now is at the 50,000 ft level. We need to develop a more comprehensive detailed national execution plan for the next five years. The first section should incorporate conservation and placing public pressure on elected officials at all levels of government to engage and approve a national plan while in parallel we are designing, constructing and installing the new alternative energy infrastructure systems. Once we have the grass roots base involved at this level, we can then continue to communicate the next steps of the plan to them to help bring us to the Energy Independence we are looking to accomplish Delete Comment

Hi Caroline

Thanks for joining TX-32. The local groups are important to stay informed locally.

YOU have joined us at a pivotal moment. If you have any questions, just ask. PLEASE call you senator in DC and implore them to pay keep the energy components in the bill and pay attention to CNG. No battery we currently have can move an 18 wheeler. CNG can get us off of FOREIGN oil fastest.

Here is the best/most pertinent information on CNG- how it's use is currently inhibited and what we can do to push it along! (Thank you Jerry McDonald, for this outstanding message) This, in parallel with this morning's video from Boone, telling us that Senator Reid is publicly supporting CNG, but needs us to apply more pressure, shows us how critical this moment is. This is the opportunity we have been waiting for! CAN WE CLOSE THE DEAL?! WE MUST all follow through and reach out to our Senators today!

"There is much in the stimulus legislation that does align with the Pickens Plan but there is a sharp departure on the subject of natural gas vehicles, and that fact threatens to derail all our valiant efforts. So far the Congress has not specifically called out support for natural gas powering of heavy trucks and without specific sustenance for infrastructure and vehicle conversion the chance of reducing dependence on foreign oil is impossible.

Let me explain.
There are roughly 4 million diesel freight trucks on America’s roads. If we started converting this truck fleet to natural gas today it would take 10 years at 1,000 trucks per day! At its peak of production in 2006 there were 897,313 mid range to heavy duty trucks sold in the US. If we could convince all truck owners to buy new vehicles we would meet our goal in 5 years but is it practical to ask business to bear the entire replacement cost? If it were these shrewd business owners who KNOW their costs down to the penny would have taken advantage of existing tax credits to make the switch. So obviously something more has to be done. And here is where the stimulus package breaks down.

Boone has the right idea, Congress just isn’t listening. And the irony is Congress could stimulate this fleet to repower itself at virtually no cost. WHAT, stimulus at no cost? Read on and find out how small changes in regulation and shifts in funding would free us from the OPEC tax, stimulate new jobs and clean our air with no incremental cost.

A FAQ compiled by Natural Gas Vehicle for America makes the following abundantly clear:
- Capricious penalties imposed by the EPA scare truckers from choosing natural gas
- Bureaucratic red tape limits the options AND dramatically increases the cost for fuel conversions
- Federal alternative fuel tax incentives are written such that halt migration to an NGV fleet
(NGVAmerica is a national organization dedicated to the development of a growing, sustainable and profitable market for vehicles powered by natural gas or hydrogen. NGVAmerica represents more than 100 companies interested in the promotion and use of natural gas as transportation fuels.)

If you agree with the above, I implore you to appeal to federal legislators for the following:
- Legislation to amend the Federal Energy Policy Act of 2005 to make bi-fuel retrofits eligible for tax credit
- Through their office ask the EPA to place a moratorium on the $5000 per day penalty for operation of vehicles using non-certified natural gas fuel systems
- During the period of the moratorium fund the EPA to expand assistance to manufacturers of natural gas vehicle bi-fuel retrofit and conversion systems seeking certification

By all accounts it will take a ‘moon shot’ effort to unhook us from foreign oil but we can move this mountain one shovel full at a time. Relaxing these regulations doesn’t require sweeping policy changes or billions of dollars and the risk of harm is exponentially outweighed by the potential for good. Good for American security, good for the American economy and good for the environment. " - Jerry

Welcome!
I am one of the welcome wagon crew. We are all volunteers. Out of sheer numbers I greet daily I have a paste and copy note.
It is not intended to overwhelm you, just give you a direction and some contacts. I do read every profile page.
We are a voluntary community of individuals who are placing our combined support behind T. Boone Pickens and his efforts to send our government a clear (heard) message that we must reduce our nation’s dependence on foreign oil through the use of all domestic energy alternatives. This site is a place to interact with fellow Pickens Plan supporters, keep up with events and opportunities to help get more involvement.
*************Please, I ask the first sites you visit to get accurate info and articles to see pretty much what the plan is about and where the plan stands, and please come back to these sites often as changes take place regularly. Some are long, please; take the time to get all the details.
On the home page, click on About The Plan ~ Boone Cam ~ Blog - You’ll see the Pie-graph Mechanics.
Our future is focus 1- at this point in time! If not now, When? If not you, WHO?
Mr. Obama has voiced that eliminating the dependence of foreign oil is a top priority.
[Click here], to enter your zip code and be paired up with members in your area. If you’re like me I do better working with some like friends. If you want to be a leader for your area, you can also sign up on that page.
For our members in other countries [Click here ], to link to the International group.
There is a group for almost everything. The Forums/discussions on this site are many and you’ll probably find something that interests or concerns you. Some are very long and were started months ago. For the ones that concern you, please keep in mind, events are remembered and relayed differently by those commenting, which as we all too well know equals at least three sides to the event.
After you have read the sites I mentioned, if you need anything else to help you, while you help the push, please stop by. I am proud to put my efforts towards this cause.
Again, Welcome; Tom

Welcome Caroline!

There will be others along soon to tell you all about what you can do to push the PP. I am here to tell you about a very important group that I have started.

The name of the group is TELL IT LIKE IT IS.

Everyday we are fed lots of very big numbers by the many talking heads on the new media. We are told about billions and trillions of dollars and about layoffs numbering in the thousands first by one company then three times that many from another. But what is the significance of all of these numbers? What if we were to put a face, a name, a family, a town, a city and so on and so forth to the number? Would that help us to understand any better? Maybe yes maybe no but at least we could begin to get a better perspective of what is really going on out where the shoes meet the ground. The members of Tell It Like It iS are one by one stepping up to tell the rest of us what it is happening where they live. How is this current mess we are all in impacting them.

We would appreciate it if you too would come and post your report. What is it like where you live? How are you personally, your family, your friends being affected by these tumultous times?

This is not about gloom and doom. This is about getting an honest unembellished broad perspective of the situation from those who are out in the midst of life trying to hold their own and survive the storm.

I invite you to please come and check the group out and, if you do, be sure to read down into the pages to catch all of the reports made thus far.

Thanks.

Monte
