Why allow offshore drilling in the U.S.? One answer is obvious...

A reason why Obama needs to allow offshore drilling in the U.S despite strong financial ties to Lobbyists against it:

It's a Mercedes Benz owned by an Abu Dhabi oil billionaire (naturally).

Featuring the newly developed V10 quad turbo with 1,600 horsepower and 2800nm of torque;

0-100km/h in less than 2 seconds, 1/4 mile in 6.89 seconds.;

Running on biofuel!

It is NOT made of stainless steel, people; it is made of WHITE GOLD.

Pickens' Energy Campaign Marches On - Wednesday July 8

UPDATE: From Associated Press (AP)

The past year has been tough on T. Boone Pickens and his $60 million mission to wean America off of foreign oil.

Over the past 12 months, Pickens pressed the public to rethink its use of energy. His "Pickens Plan" called for a number of changes such as investing in wind and solar energy, rebuilding the country's electrical grid and replacing gasoline with natural gas in cars and trucks.

Pickens says he was influential in starting a national dialog on energy… Continue

Congressman Russ Carnahan responds to Chris Bylander on H.R. 1835.

Dear Mr. Bylander:

Thank you for contacting me in regard to H.R. 1835, the New Alternative Transportation to Give Americans Solutions (NAT GAS) Act of 2009. I appreciate hearing from you and welcome the opportunity to respond.

As you know, the NAT GAS Act would extend tax credits and incentives to encourage the use of natural gas in the commercial and federal vehicle fleets. It would direct the U.S. government to run 50% of its vehicles on compressed or liquefied natural gas by 2014, and it wo… Continue

We need to keep pushing forward!

This in from from Boone:

The pace of our march toward energy independence is picking up. Legislation has been introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives – H.R. 1835 – which will make a huge difference in the way we use domestic natural gas to replace foreign oil.

H.R. 1835 is known as the NAT GAS Act of 2009 and will provide incentives to move fleets and heavy trucks away from imported gasoline and diesel to clean, domestic natural gas.

The NAT GAS Act is one of the very rare bi-partisan… Continue

President Obama inherited an economic and fiscal mess. It will take time and a lot of tough decisions to turn our economy around. The budget the House of Representatives passed yesterday makes those tough decisions and invests in the areas that will spur growt… Continue

IBM Employees and Alumni Weigh In On Spending

As an ex-IBM:er I belong to the Greater IBM Connection. There is a lot of us, tens of thousands. We took a vote on how the stimulus package should be spent. Here are the results: we may conclude that we have more work to do with the Pickens Plan.

QUESTION: Where should investments go?

The U.S. economic stimulus package includes significant amounts for infrastructure and technology improvements. How should that money be spent to have the greatest positive effect?

Physical infrastructure 36.90%… Continue

Chris Bylander hosted a Pickens' Plan event in Saint Louis on Feb. 18. It was organized on the web (easy to do - just email people you know and ask them to invite 3+ friends to Anyplace). Results: The networking created 897 invites of whom 650 responded; Of those who showed up 36 people signed the Pledge and 24 people said "maybe". When talking to the folks in the latter category I learned that they belong to a group who expects things to "be done" for them but don't do much for themselves. When… Continue
