I have a 2000 BMW with a v-8 and aafter extensive research, found there is not a conversion kit available or approved by California for my vehicle. I believe that our effort should have one portion directed to do everything they can do to assist truckers to convert their diesel engines to CNG. I remember when diesel was .17 a gallon, now it is higher than premium fuel. A message from Chuck to all members of Pickens California Group on
PickensPlan!
Can anybody enlighten me on the process of conversion of gas powered
cars (BMW) to natural gas? I am really interested, a multi car collector
and active in community. Thanks, Chuck in Santa Clara, Ca
My reply is: Dear Chuck; this is the $64 thousand dollar question. You can get more info at http://www.consumerenergycenter.org (I can't get my computer to create a link so copy and paste)
If you follow the links you can find a kit manufacturer certified by State of CA and a list of the vehicles they are made for. They are not available for all vehicles. You'll need to search for a mechanic in your area that does this kind of work and get their assistance. Of course, check the dealerships too. Please let us know when you find one, we are creating a list for this group to share.
