- I have dreamed about alternative energy since the Oil Shortage in 1973. I have wondered what, if anything, the Dept of Energy has done during the past 35 years to find better sources of energy after being rudely awakened by such an alarming wakeup call. Fusion is an interesting idea but we need to find something cleaner than oil while we try to get fusion to work, if it ever will. In the cases of wind and solar energies, they are already being spent so we might as well utilize as much of them as we can. My family has mineral interests in East Texas so I have a self-interest in seeing natural gas used more than it presently is, but sel-interests aside, it is a clean fuel that is fairly easy to convert the transportation sector to. I am wondering whether it is better to use natural gas to power electric power plants and then run cars on electricity rather than running them on natural gas. I would like to see a national debate focusing on which would be the better way to go.
- What excites you about this campaign?
- Getting unentangled with Middle Eastern politics, and getting a cleaner, lower-priced fuel source to power our planet with. And, if there is enough of a surplus, to sell to the Chinese in order to offset our humongous trade defecit. If the world had enough inexpensive fuel, then deserts could be watered with de-salinated seawater and starvation could be ended (assuming that population levels didn't increase to a point where humans again began starving to death).
- What do you want to do to help?
- I don't think I have enough time to be a good organizer, but I may be able to help some on weekends.

Would Electric Cars Be Better than Natural Gas Cars?
I have been wondering if it would be better to use the natural gas to produce electricity and then use electricity to power cars. Pickens has said that it would cost $400,000 to convert present gasoline stations to natural gas stations. Wouldn't it cost less to convert those stations to electricity stations? BTW, Texas: I just posted an article link on my pickens page about Home Wind Systems in Texas. Your state's representatives, governor, and public utility commission officials are not in your corner with this "weak policy" on Net Metering. Instead they have the tables turned against green power for businesses and homeowners. Texas has created multiple sets of rules for loopholes and you have less rights than people in other states. You should read that article, important.
