Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I have previously used solar enegy to heat the water in my home and reduced my electric bill by some 30%. I served as an assistant to U.S.Congressman Dale Milford in the 70's, during this period his committee ( Science & Technology)provided the funds for a solar demonstration house at the University of Texas Arlington. In my current home I have reflective insulation and have used flourescent light bulbs for more than a decade. Texas has the wind power and the sun to provide most of it's power needs and much of that for the rest of the country. we have better than 80% sun as a rule.
What excites you about this campaign?
The idea of a self sustaning energy source that free's us from sending Billions of Dollars per year to foriegn nations.
This badly damages our economy and puts us at the mercy of the other governments.
What do you want to do to help?
I have believed that we made a mistake when we moved away from solar and wind energy tax credits in the early 80's.
This killed a budding industry that by now would have made a significant impact on our energy needs. I beleve for the short term we need to develop all sources but that solar and wind are the real long term anwser to much of our needs.

Yes, we totally believe in energy independence and hope more Americans can get on board with this thinking. Too many people just want the government to figure everything out for them and that is ridiculous. People have gotten into a very passive mindset and this is never good. Thanks for sending us the website as my husband was just talking about T. Boone Pickens the other day. Tish
