Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?

Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
Using Bio-fuel deisel for my car. I've installed solar on a house in Palm Springs, CA; I've also been reading as much as possible educating myself on alternative energy sources for the past several years. I was always fascinated by the wind turbines we pass coming into Palm Springs and noticed a lot of city/county cars and trucks being run on natural gas in San Francisco wondering why this wasn't more available.
What excites you about this campaign?
Everything! The time is NOW to think past 19th century technologies, become self sufficient and rebuild America for the future. The fact that Mr. TBPickens is behind this makes me think we may actually get other conservatives to see the light and do something for the common good that all political points of view can support and be proud of. Keeping this vast amount of money here in the US will help get us back on track to fiscal health while keeping our standard of living and being responsible to the environment and health of the planet. It's win win win
What do you want to do to help?
Anyway I can.

DJ,
The 2010 election is rapidly approaching, and some of you are aware I will be running for the Oakland County 13th district State Senate seat. I am calling upon you to assit me in establishing better standards and the necessary reforms needed in Michigan. I must stress I cannot do this without your help-Pickens cannot do this without your help!

It starts and ends with you and me; all of us working together and as I have said over and over in our discussions-ordinary people can do extraordinary things when given the chance to participate.

What I have learned over the past 16 months reading and listening to your achievements for our noble cause is the change rarely happens from the top down, it happens from the bottom up. Many of us live our entire lives waiting for the chance to make a difference, to count, to really matter-well that time is now-answer the call to action and pledge to RIGHT Michigan, Pledge to put an end to the same failed policies and practices of the past, to poor decision making, and the lack of political will and courage by our state legislature. Join with me to usger in an era of real accountability, placing people (our women, children, community and neighbors) before party; the working class before lobbyist and special interest group.

The biggest risk we can take this year is to continue down the path we on, being led by the same old political gamers, practicing the same old politics that has failed you and me. How about we start an energy bond in Michigan, and solicit other good ideas from people like you and me who have been excluded, ignored, and disappointed.

I need a team of speakers to travel with me in [birmingham, troy, royal oak, madison heights, clawson, berkley, bloomfield hills and bloomfield township] hosting community conversation informing residents of our current situation as well as of the opportunities that await us in the future with the right leadership.

Will You Help me?

Hi DJames , I'm the state Internal Communication Director for the Michigan FairTax Assn which works "hand in glove" with goals of the Pickens Plan. By enacting the MI FairTax, families and businesses will have additional disposable monthly income to make energy utilization improvements to their homes, businesses, and transportation. Our goal is to REPLACE the Michigan income tax because the system is broken. It continues to penalize entrepreneurship and productivity, and Michigan is rapidly losing families and businesses - daily !

To try to fix Michigan's tax system, the legislature enacted the Michigan Business Tax. Trouble is, the MBT still remains a gross receipts tax - which was the problem with the Single Business Tax it was designed to replace. We've been working hard to get the word out about a fairer, progressive consumption tax plan known as the Michigan FairTax. In order to give Michigan voters the power to choose, we are laying the groundwork for a ballot drive to get the Michigan FairTax on the 2010 general election ballot.

For The Facts- End income tax returns, audits, interest, penalties and 1/2 the lobbyists in LansingThe Michigan FairTax will both simplify, and stimulate, Michigan's business / jobs climate in a dramatic and ongoing manner. It will replace the income tax and current sales tax, with a consumption tax (sales tax at point of retail sale) while un-taxing all purchases up to poverty level - this means no more withholding of state tax from Michigan wage-earners' paychecks.

What's more, every Michigan resident-family will receive a monthly "prebate" check, in amount based on family size (.0975 x $ [ poverty level per family size] ). This will ensure that NO Michigan family will EVEN BEGIN paying the MI FairTax on goods / services unless, or until, they exceed poverty-level spending. Thus, the MI FairTax rate would effectively be 0% on all monthly family spending up to the monthly poverty level, thereafter it would be 9.75%. A reasonable average effective rate, inferred, would be about 5.5% (that's without putting anything away!) Monies placed into savings are not available to spend, and therefore would result in a further effective tax rate reduction.

Under a FairTax system, points of collection will be dramatically reduced (from millions of individuals to considerably fewer retailers, many of whom are already collecting sales tax). Michigan wage-earners will no longer experience income tax collectors adding interest and penalties to tax bills they only found out about after their return was prepared (and PAID for) at the end of the year. With a Michigan FairTax, income tax-- returns, audits, interest, and penalites vanish.

Currently, goods / services prices and fees carry income / payroll tax compliance costs - "a hidden tax," ultimately paid by us. The FairTax will externalize these costs, making them visible. Michigan exporters will then be able to jettison the FairTax, prior to shipment, making Michigan products more competitive, globally. The MI FairTax is NOT applied to non-retail, business-to-business purchases, as this inseparably embeds taxation costs in prices of finished goods and services.

This plan is revenue neutral, as it-- ends "first fruit" confiscation of wages, stops the practice of hiding consumer taxes in retail prices, makes the true cost of gov't visible, and properly pays for gov't as we meet personal and family needs. Take action! - JOIN OUR TAX REFORM ARMY - of 20,000, and counting! - to bring Michigan back!

Made popular by the federal FairTax bill (H.R. 25, which was either co-sponsored or otherwise endorsed by several 2008 presidential candidates), this approach to taxation reaches across the political spectrum

Mike Gravel (D) - Mike Huckabee (R) - Ron Paul (Libertarian R)

Why the FairTax idea is right for America's working families.

Dr. Laurence Kotlikoff believes that it will take the FairTax to reverse unfunded U.S. government obligations, now above $53 $60 trillion and counting !

PS To address JoAnn Musser's comment below: She took an immediate disliking to this proposal - before even investigating it. Her "League of Human Services" looks suspiciously like an organization that represents other organizations that "feed at the public trough." Such organizations depend on lobbyists to support their payrolls and their "reason for being." The Michigan Chamber's opposition is not necessarily the position of their member organizations throughout the state. You would think they support a plan that would eliminate business income and payroll tax, wouldn't you? (Of course, they roll all of their costs into higher prices, which means we pay more for everything, while our products carry embedded taxes into global markets, putting Michigan - and the U.S. - at a competitive disadvantage.) So, the question remains: Why would the Michigan Chamber oppose? Would they lose some large and small clients if this legislation was passed?

Hi DJ, I'm leaving you this message to make you aware of the OTHER SIDE of the Michigan FairTax Proposal that Daar Fisher is attempting to introduce to people on this site. There are MAJOR problems associated with this tax proposal that people need to consider. Please click on the above links to review the information. This tax would greatly burden the middle class

Merry Christmas DJames,
This year I have helped so many members learn about personal home energy plans. It's all about power use, conservation, and home power generation, things I have been doing at my residence to lower my energy costs. Send me a friend request a to add me DJames, I'd be honored to have you as a friend here.

BTW, Michigan: I just posted an article on my page about Home Wind Systems in Michigan. Your state's representatives, governor, and public utility commission officials are not in your corner with this "soft policy" on Net Metering. Instead they have the tables turned against green power for businesses and homeowners. You should read that article, important.

Thanks for Joinng Up DJames, WELCOME ABOARD!

(1) Please Go to THE PLEDGE (very top of this page) On the top of the pledge page there are three rectangular buttons- two blue ones and ONE RED BUTTON, that reads "CONTACT CONGRESS" . Fill in the short, standard form. Done! Thanks.
(2) In addition to political support and action, I encourage you to consider a Personal Energy Plan in which you take control of your electricity by using home energy systems. That's what I do for a living, help people with their own home systems. I will be glad to help you and answer any questions. Below is some info and links that will give you an idea of where to start.

Hi DJames,
We have new roof mounting residential wind turbine kits are shipping now. They are sleek, attractive, and well designed. These are actually a home appliance on the roof, much like an antennae or satellite dish. They are as easy to install as other home appliances, dishwasher, etc. It's a nice clean way for you to begin a personal energy plan. These systems are inexpensive, easy to install, scaleable.

Your Wind blows stronger in the winter, Your Sun shines stronger in the summer months. This hybrid wind/solar system combines these cycles to give a more even flow of energy year round. This homeowner sized wind/solar system provides free power for your home. Many customers have found it easy to become customer/dealers of our kits. Customers can become a dealer with no further investment, they see quickly how people are easy to get interested.

I have used the same systems save money on my electricity costs and DJames, you can too. Your local wind resources are so good in Michigan. Have a look at these windmaps and see can you pinpoint what number your area is in. Zone 2 is OK, anything over 2 is (very) good. First double check your wind resources from the map and links below.

Welcome to Pickens Plan!
There is a perfect storm of events happening right now that create the possibility of a paradigm shift that is urgently needed. We have an angry citizenry due to pain at the pump, a presidential election on the horizon, and a man with a plan to dramatically and imminently reduce our dependance on foreign oil, and provide a bridge to future solutions, who has the resources, contacts, knowledge, wealth and "will" to get it done.

Please share this plan with your circle of friends, family and associates. Urge them to JOIN. As you know, it is simply like signing a petition. With large numbers of supporters, we can put pressure to bear on Congress to incentivize alternative and renewable energies, and insure that our future president will be a leader that will push for domestic energy solutions. JFK once said. "in the next 10 years we will put a man on the moon". He got it done. We need that kind of leadership on energy.

Time is of the essence. If gas prices retreat the public will forget the pain, and our moment may be lost. How frightening to be looking back and apologizing to our children that we could not get this done when we had the chance.
