Mr. Riley,
What do you think we should do about the issue of sending so much of our money out of the country to buy foreign oil?

Solar and wind energy sources are great but you just cannot connect a wind turbine or a big panel of solar cells to a car, even one with an electric motor. The extension cords are just not long enough. Nobody wants to run the cars off batteries yet because the battery technology is just not well enough developed to make it very practical or affordable.

I do not hear Mr. Pickens advocating an accelerated program of drilling for more natural gas. What I hear in Mr. Pickens' plan is that we use the existing natural gas supply in a smarter way, to power the semis instead of making electricity with it. Then we use solar and wind to generate electricity to replace the missing electricity generation that results when we take the natural gas away from electricity generation.

If our choice is between continuing down the same old road as we have in the past or of doing what Mr. Pickens proposed, are you not more in favor of what he proposes?

Whether or not drilling for natural gas is a serious problem for the environment, these two alternatives should be of equal impact to the environment.

If you have a plan for getting us off foreign oil that can be implemented in a cost effective manner within the next 5 years that also achieves what you are apparently interested in (discontinuing the use of natural gas), let us hear your plan. Otherwise, I think it is time to get with the program and decide where you come down on the issue of the Pickens Plan.

Remember what Mr. Pickens says about plans. If we do not choose a plan that really gets us off foreign oil, then our plan is to buy lots of foreign oil.

Making the wrong choice here means we risk our national security, destroy our economy even further, and kiss our freedom goodbye because that is exactly what is going to happen to it. OPEC will charge for their oil whatever the market will bear. And that is going to take an awful lot of our money if we do not act right now. Natural gas drilling is not the issue here. Foreign oil is.

Now if you really want to wind down the mining of natural gas from underground supplies, you should be looking into methane production from organic waste. The methane produced by manure lagoons and other organic reactors is just as useful of a fuel as is natural gas because it is essentially the same thing. The best part about making our own gas is that, unlike coal and oil, it does not take tremendous heat, pressure, and millions of years. It is easily done even in small scale operations. Down the road, we could all be running methane reactors in our backyards. And the technology for doing all of that has been around for many years. To learn more about simple methane producing reactors, I suggest that you look into the articles from the Mother Earth News. I am sure there is a lot more about it on the web, too. Good luck with that.

Welcome and thanks for joining…now that you’ve taken the plunge here’s what you can do right now to help bump up the pledge numbers before Inauguration day. Download and print this NO SIGNATURE REQUIRED petition form:

http://media.pickensplan.com/downloads/PP/pollingsignupsheet.pdf

When speaking to friends, family and colleagues, either in person or on the phone, ask them if they agree with the objective of American Independence from foreign oil. Just slip it into the conversation between the corporate babble, recipe exchange or play date logistics.

When they say YES (most will), tell them you’re going to include their name on a Pickens Plan Petition for our ENERGY INDEPENDENCE. NO ONE will call or bug them (except perhaps you) to join the organization or do anything further if they elect not to.

Fill out the form with their name, email, zip code and phone and FAX to the number on the form and you’re done. You will get credit for the sign ups toward the 100 club. It’s easy and fast and there’s NO SIGNATURE REQUIRED.

There are only a few days left until Inauguration day. Please do it now!

Thanks,

Click here to help organize the New Energy Army in your Congressional District! Sign up to be a District Leader today.
Go to THE PLEDGE Lend your voice to the call for American energy independence Fill in the short, standard form.
Go to the MY ENERGY page. Register and make your voice count.
Contact and "Friend" the New Energy Army Regional Leader for your state.

Download the PETITION : get them signed, fax them in to the 888# at the bottom of the pledge, asap.
This is how we build our numbers fast! Be a leader, be a part of the "100 CLUB", by faxing in 100 signed pledge. Let Kim Anderson know when you are done and she will see that you are added to the list.
