Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Yes
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
We built a small windmill from scrap parts . When I saw it work with my own eyes I was convinced.
What excites you about this campaign?
1) This campaign will make our country more secure and stable. 2)This campaign guarantees manufacturing on American soil. 3)This campaign encourages innovation. Answers 1, 2, and 3 will make our country safer, stronger, and improve our standard of living. If we do not encourage innovation who will? If we can unite behind a simple realistic solution to solve our energy/power supply or at a minimum improve it, it must be our civic duty as members of our nation to do so.
What do you want to do to help?
We are in the planning stages of creating a eco/economic development club or organization. Our hope is to have members from the county utilities and city utilities involoved or at least aware of what is available in the current marketplace. Any direction you can give us is greatly appreciated. I am happy to help the Pickens ARMY in any capacity you may deem beneficial to promote the PickensPlan. Gob bless you for all your hard work Mr. Pickens.
Sincerely,
Dale Romanus

District 2 NC please vote Renee Ellmers for Congress

District 2 NC - Please vote for Renee Ellmers instead of Bob Ethridge. It appears he is a disaster for our state. Please watch the video of congressman Ethridge assaulting a student half his size if you have not seen it yet and you will understand why you probably do not want him to represent our state.

Hi Dale!

It has been a while since we kept in touch last!

We are now over 1.2 million suporters. We will need many more if we are to beat back the damn lobbyists and special interests. Can you help with the pledges? Every American needs to sign on. With pledges we can fan out and reach so many. It is an easy ask- Boone has done the hard work. I was able to get 300 signed in the first 4 days - everyone wants to to get off of foreign oil. We may never have a golden opportunity like this again!
ARE YOU IN?

Best

Hi Dale!

Thank youf roy or ofer of menaingful help to aid the plan. Would you be a part of the pledge drive? We asked for weeks for a petition, and now we have one. Do we have the fortitude to WORK IT? Or will we just stay on this site and talk? Would love to have you as part of the 100CLUB- for folks who fax in 100 or more signed pledges. If only a small persentage (5% = 10,000) of our members each shouldered this small tak, we would have over a million in short order. ARE YOU IN?

Glad to meet you and see how involved you are . Graeful for your effors!

Dale, I am trying to figure out the practicallity of producing a single family home windmill that doesn't cost 25k. As a builder it is hard for me to figure out what costs so much. The technology is pretty simple ( I think). My experience with other green technologies as they relate to residential construction are cost prohibitive. Spray foam insulation has at least a 50% margin; talk about a marketing sham. We have at least two boat mfgs. in Brunswick county= the propeller and turbine housing, all we need is a oversized alternator mfg. Melt down a few million Bud Light empties and there is our tower. I'll hire a minority female as the CEO and have all kinds of grants and other free money at my disposal. (sound like a plan?) Easy on the French, Napoleon kind of screwed those guys. Short man syndrome. I think if Busch was married to a former super model his approval rating would be higher. Til this plan gets some legs I will keep my day job, God knows Wall Street needs my tax dollars. Did you surf Hannah's waves? Vance

Could you use an alternator and achieve the same thing. Vance

Dale, I live on Oak Island in Brunswick county. Western Brunswick county as well as Columbus county have unlimited land available and it is my understanding they have some wind potential. God knows we could use some mfg. jobs in this state. I would be interested in learning how you made a wind mill out of spare parts. I am an NCSU alum and I contacted them for available info. If you have time, write me back. Vance Kimball

I meant to say 1000 installations instead of 100 in CA for the pilot phase rollout.

Dale,

The quotes I used for a 10Kw system in my response to Jim were from two sources.

The first was BP Solar USA which has an online solar calculator. You input your zip code, usage/system size and it quotes a price after including the NC tax credit of $72,625 for Northeastern NC.

The other source is SC Solar, the company that installed a 10Kw rack mounted system in Edenton NC which is in the NC Greenpower program. They informed me that the installation cost was approximately $80,000. They also told me the amount of power that the system generates in a year (approximately 14000Kwh) and what the owner receives from NC Greenpower which was at that time $0.18/Kwh plus $0.04 from the utility. So the income from this system is a about $3100/year. At $80,000 it will take approximately 25 years for the system to pay for itself.

I appreciate that you consider the idea of renting a solar electric system for some homeowners that can't afford the high upfornt cost as an option. Citizenre has a vision that 25% of the power supplied to the grid will be from solar power by 2025. It is a lofty goal for sure. The latest I heard from the company is that will roll out a pilot with a many as 100 installations by the end of the year. Those installations will be in California. They then plan if the financing comes through to start making installations in other states beginning next year. NC is on the list for installations. I know that many homeowners across the U.S. cannot take advantage of this program due to poor net metering laws or no net metering at all. In NC only investor owned utilities can participate and unfortunately my utility is a Coop so I can't get a system on my home just now even though I would sign up in a heartbeat if I could. It would only cost me $89/month for a 10Kw REnU system.

I know it still seems like it is too good to be true. But I for one choose to believe that it will happen and that it will be at least part of the solution to the energy crisis in this country.

Thanks for your comments and for keeping an open mind to the possibilities. I think renting solar is a part of the solution.

my home is located near the top of a hill that is covered in trees. we do get some wind, however, it is irregular and intermittent. not real sure how consistant it would be. i still have delusions of building a small water wheel electric generator. even with the drought situation here there is alays a small amount of water in the creek. i would need to build a race to capture the water and run it far enough to get sufficient fall to turn a wheel.
