Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Yes
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I am employed as a operations and maint. tech for a local wind farm with 200 turbines and experiance the benefits of the use of wind energy daily. It is a very clean enviroment to work in and if completed correctly there is no change to the area and the habitat to the area goes unchanged.
What excites you about this campaign?
The ability to use or own natural resources instead of depending on foreign oil to dictate the price and use of crude oil.

Happy New Year Damon,
Last year I helped so many members of Pickens Plan learn about personal home energy plans. It's all about conservation of power, and home power generation, things I have been doing at my residence to lower my electricity costs. Send me a friend request a to add me Damon, I'd be honored to have you as a friend here.
BTW, Texas: I just posted an article link on my pickens page about Home Wind Systems in Texas. Your state's representatives, governor, and public utility commission officials are not in your corner with this "weak policy" on Net Metering. Instead they have the tables turned against green power for businesses and homeowners. Texas has created multiple sets of rules for loopholes and you have less rights than people in other states. You should read that article, important.
Yes the optimal rpm to connect to the grid is at 1200 rpm and at 1800 is prower producing rpm. We use a low speed gear ratio from a Hansen Gear box with a ratio 105.2 to 1 to our 4 pole generator. We do use a step up transformer to keep up to the grid to prevent lose of power.
Hi Damon, I’m from California. If I understand this right these unit are based on induction? Higher RPM's would generate electricity? Are you using centrifugal gearing to optimize output? Are these units already supplying power to the grid? Do you lose any power in the transfer or do you use step up transformers? I was an electrical contractor working mostly on residential homes allot of home owners switched to gas over the past 10 years that I have seen, mostly just stoves and dryers. Gas was cheaper then electric. Both of those units are 220v and older units so they were not as efficient as the newer ones. They still would draw more current then anything in the home. I have seen some homeowners here try for smaller wind generators here but the city was not really too happy about the idea. Anyway sorry to ask so many questions hope that’s ok, I'm just interested in this idea. Would love to be a part of it....
Please take a look at the executive summary on my page. We are in the process of establishing a nonprofit innovation laboratory in Houston Texas dedicated to inspiring young people to pursue technology careers and to the development of the next-generation of strategic technologies to meet our current global challenges. Alternative energy is a major focus of our program.
Right now, we are in need of people willing to sponsor our efforts or to finding sponsorship for us.
We believe this can be the beginning of an effort that can spread to other areas of the country and create a critical mass of new technology ideas and innovative technologists to meet the challenges.
Any assistance you could provide would be appreciated.
