- I recently finished college in West Texas, a region known for its petroleum-driven local economies. Driving the 350+ miles from the Dallas/Fort Worth area to school every semester, I was so intrigued to see fields of wind towers being constructed in the shadow of the oil pumps that also dot the landscape. To know that my little niche of the United States has such endless potential for energy self-sufficiency is very reassuring.
- What excites you about this campaign?
- I believe Mr. Pickens has put together an excellent campaign to promote an energy educated populous in this country. As a student of architecture, we are constantly reminded of the impact that energy awareness has on the buildings we design and their inhabitants. Alternative sources are a subject that planners have to consider on a daily basis and I believe our society should be equally interested.
- What do you want to do to help?
- Developing a dialogue is an inspiring beginning, but as Americans, we listen with our eyes. I'm curious to find out what Mr. Pickens and the rest of the supporters can do to SHOW if not PROVE to America the need for change.
As someone who is not an expert in this subject I feel a bit overwhelmed by this daunting task, but am confident that even by casting my approval for PickensPlan, I have shown my support, but would love to do more.

Last year I helped so many members of Pickens Plan learn about personal home energy plans. It's all about conservation of power, and home power generation, things I have been doing at my residence to lower my electricity costs. Send me a friend request a to add me Daniel, I'd be honored to have you as a friend here.
BTW, Texas: I just posted an article link on my pickens page about Home Wind Systems in Texas. Your state's representatives, governor, and public utility commission officials are not in your corner with this "weak policy" on Net Metering. Instead they have the tables turned against green power for businesses and homeowners. Texas has created multiple sets of rules for loopholes and you have less rights than people in other states. You should read that article, important.
I am looking for your help. I need your honest opinion about a fund raiser I just came across. In part it offers green electricity to power homes using wind.. Could you let me know what you think of it please?
This fund raising method can save members or supporters up to 30% on their utility bills each month. Then the church, sports team, club, non profit, or community group collects a portion of what each member pays EVERY MONTH on their LOWER utility bills. So this fund raiser keeps the money flow going each month, as long as members keep paying their lower utility bills. Savings for members on their utility bills can be up to $1,000 a year.
There is no cost for members or supporters; they just save money and get a free vacation certificate plus receive travel reward points too, while raising money for your favorite cause, or group. This seems to be a WIN WIN WIN solution... but what do you think?
As an option members can also support a clean environment by signing up for green electricity that is generated by wind. Churches are using this now to raise funds for missionary work, feeding the homeless, etc.
I am on the board of the Homeless Housing Coalition in my area and I wish we had access to this program in our area. I think this is available in your area, lucky you. Add me as a friend, and let me know what you think of it.

There is a perfect storm of events happening right now that create the possibility of a paradigm shift that is urgently needed. We have an angry citizenry due to pain at the pump, a presidential election on the horizon, and a man with a plan to dramatically and imminently reduce our dependance on foreign oil, and provide a bridge to future solutions, who has the resources, contacts, knowledge, wealth and "will" to get it done.
Please share this plan with your circle of friends, family and associates. Urge them to JOIN. As you know, it is simply like signing a petition. With large numbers of supporters, we can put pressure to bear on Congress to incentivize alternative and renewable energies, and insure that our future president will be a leader that will push for domestic energy solutions. JFK once said. "in the next 10 years we will put a man on the moon". He got it done. We need that kind of leadership on energy.
Time is of the essence. If gas prices retreat the public will forget the pain, and our moment may be lost. How frightening to be looking back and apologizing to our children that we could not get this done when we had the chance.
