I just reenforced my dislike of inverters I got my lap top charged so desided to power my 15" flat screen t.v. in my office to save more electricity. It shut off in three hours from low voltage. It thinks 11.5v is low voltage. I plugged my lap top...

Thought I'd add another thing to the list of things run on solar and wind in my office, I've already got 12 volt wiring in here that runs the L.E.D. lights so I added a cigarrette lighter outlet on the side of my deck. I went to Best Buy and got a...

If you got the panels from the same place I did 500W will cost a little over $5,000. The panels are $900 and the controlers are sold seperatly. Also you will need batteries for storage, I have 8. Also you'll need an inverter. It should be sized at...

Profile Information

Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Yes
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I use solar panels and a small wind generator to power lights and a corn stove. I have produced hydrogen and used it to replace natural gas in the 1980s. I studied renewable energy in collage in the 80s. I had a stationary gasoline engine running on hydrogen. I have designed a totally self sustaining house and am working on getting the money together to build it.
What excites you about this campaign?
Natural gas can be a renewable resource. It can be produced on farms from animal waste, and in cities from human waste and garbage.
What do you want to do to help?
I have been doing research in renewable energy for 30 years. I would be happy to share my sucesses and failures with anyone. I would help the movement as much as I can within available time.

WASHINGTON D.C. - U.S. Congressman Dan Boren released the following statement today in regard to the announcement by the Potential Gas Committee (PGC) and the Colorado School of Mines on the abundance of domestic natural gas resources. Boren was joined earlier this spring by Democratic Caucus Chairman John Larson (CT-01), Congressman John Sullivan (OK-1), and several others in announcing the introduction of H.R. 1835 the New Alternative Transportation to Give Americans Solutions Act, or NAT GAS Act. The legislation, which would significantly expand the use of natural gas as an alternative to conventional transportation fuel, could quickly reduce the nation’s dependence on foreign energy while simultaneously reducing transportation fuel costs, greenhouse gas emissions from vehicles, and urban pollution where dense vehicular fleets are prevalent. Since its introduction the NAT GAS Act has garnered the support of a bipartisan group of 66 co-sponsors in U.S. House of Representatives.

Congressman Boren: “Industry leaders, including Aubrey McClendon, T. Boone Pickens, and many others, have been highlighting for some time now the abundance of domestic gas reserves that we should be developing as a bridge fuel for powering our nation’s energy future. Natural gas is a cleaner, cheaper alternative to traditional transportation fuel and we must harness it as soon as possible to rid ourselves of an overwhelming and harmful reliance of foreign energy sources. The report released today is yet another example of the growing case for increased use of natural gas and for legislation like my NAT GAS Act, H.R. 1835. Democratic Caucus Chairman John Larson, Congressman John Sullivan, and I believe the NAT GAS Act can be a defining moment in the history of our nation’s energy policy – and this report helps illustrate that point.”

Did Brownback mention natural gas in his letter to you on flex fuels bill?
He did mention it in mine. He has put it in his letters before. I wonder if he was just humoring me after I pestered him all last summer?

I didn't know how will insulated your house was. It may be that 500v would do the job. I just hate to say it will and then we have clouds for a couple of days and then have it not keep up. I was without outside power for two and one half weeks in the ice storm.

thanks for your help. My main interest is making it in power outages ie.. spend 800 for a generator and worry about keeping fresh gas on hand have it return zero on investment or buy a solar pannel that meets my minium power needs to face emergency. I had already factored in the surge power need to start my fan moter on my furnace. I think 250 W will maintain moter and 500 to run it. When we had the ice storm I only realy need to run the fan motor for a few hours in late afternoon heat the house to 80 then shut the generator off and it would coast thru the night and morning . '
Long term a wood stove is in my future.

Below is details on tue conferece call.

This week, Boone will be holding conference calls with District Leaders from all over the country. The Virtual March on Washington is only two weeks away, and Boone wants to make sure we are all doing everything we can to get our friends, neighbors, businesses and community organizations to participate.

We've set aside two times next week for Boone to do 30 minute conference calls with District Leaders to talk about the Virtual March.

March 17 at 9 am CDT
March 18 at 9 am CDT

Due to the sheer number of anticipated participants, unfortunately we will not be able to make this an interactive call. Instead, we'd like to have you submit questions in advance, and then Boone will answer as many as he can during the 30 minute period.

Please RSVP to myenergy@pickensplan.com by 3 pm EDT on Monday. We will then produce a list of participants and questions by COB on Monday, so it is important that you RSVP by then if you can participate.

The dial in information for both calls is as follows:

Dial-In Number: (800) 261-3225
Conference Code: 2142654165

Boone has been looking forward to this for weeks! I certainly hope you can join us!
