Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Maybe--But Not Sure What to Organize
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
1. We must get off oil for both economic and environmental reasons.
2. We must get off coal. 95% of the mercury in the ocean comes from burning coal.
3. We must get off nuclear. We should not leave a million years of future generations endangered by our radioactive waste.
What excites you about this campaign?
The future of mankind. I propose a ten trillion dollar multi-year program to switch energy production from fossil fuel dependence to inexpensive renewable solar and wind. production in every community in the US.
Sunshine and water and wind will be the most valuable economic resources into the future.
What do you want to do to help?
Raise gasoline to $10 gallon to kill oil.

Thanks for your comment. Yes, we looked into solar steam arrays, unfortunately they require greater room than we have available to create the minimum amount of electricity. I'm thinking perhaps a co-op effort of people w/ properties in SD county where the collective amount of installed photovoltaics would generate more than the minimum requirement, I'll have to check my notes, but I believe that minimum was 1.5mw. Anyway a group effort might be the appropriate avenue, although, I'd suspect that a lot of folks would be hesitant to get involved since it ties up their piece of property for a very long time.

In response to David Amstutz:
I will not keep my politics out just as you have not kept your politics out, so don't try to shut me up while you get to spout out your political views. Our energy production is all wrapped up in politics and to deny so is absurd. For you to say that gas should go up to $10 and that would make you happy is extremely political. The number of people that would suffer in this country and around the world under that scenario is immense. That is an extreme political view, I want energy solutions provided by American resources providing American jobs and Pickens has a good step in this direction and I support it 100%.

I expect in the coming decades to find both water and sunshine as the most economically valuable resources to mankind (as well as vital to survival!) .
Think geographically, where solar energy is most available for transfer to electrical energy.
Imagine the Arabian Peninsula and North Africa with solar towers side by side all along the edge of the sea. They can distill sea water into pure drinking water while manufacturing electricity and sell to a world hungry for both....Think Baja Mexico and the Chilean Desert doing the same. Sahara Desert, Gobi Desert, Death Valley, California High Desert all producing electrical energy from solar..

I think the next president should offer one hundred million dollars contest prize to someone who designs the best non-fossil fuel, zero polluting engine within one year, and a ten billion dollar ten year interest free loan to set up facilities to manufacture the engine in the US. It would have to be scaled to operate ships, railroad engines, airplanes, trucks and passenger vehicles.

Lets get off oil and coal dependancy.
